I like the new update. It might not be a huge update but it added a lot of stuff to the game. Not much progression content but still content.

New updates to food were needed, if we're all honest. Old one was way too generous with health and stam. May need a bit of adjustment still, but good progress.

You have only 3 factors to consider IMHO;

1) The game will add content over the next few years and eventually will end up about twice the price of what it is today. Buy now if you want to save money. With the success it has seen I expect a fully polished game will be coming.

2) If the financial aspect is not important to you, enjoy the many other great games out there and buy it later.

3) If you enjoy replayability, this game has random seeds that will always give you a new exploration challenge. Boss fights remain the same, but their locations and the trip to get there will always be different. For that reason you can get a few hundred hours in right now, then put it on the shelf for a year or two and come back later.

It has got a lot on the way but it is still going to be a significant wait yet. I have my doubts that it will be considered a 1.0 build until 2023.

As for the game currently, it does not have a lot of content. The grinding and searching might set you back tens of hours, but these are tens of hours repurposing a very limited number of assets.
Your replay value may vary. The world is procedurally generated so that no two worlds are 100% the same, but they kind of are. Other than increasing/reducing the time that it takes to travel, all world present a challenge that is 1:1 the same. Fun with friends (but so is poop on a stick), good value for a single solo run, but in this state it only has the same replay value as any other game with building.

It is a good price for what it eventually promises to be. It is an okay price for what it currently is.

I do not see any new content or feature. Only old bugs were still active.

There has been no new content since the game was released, i'd say wait like another year before considering playing it again. H&H didn't bring anything substantial to the table in terms of actual content, just a bunch of tweaks to numbers and adding a few more recipes and building pieces.

It took me 300 hours to finish the content it already has...and that was just on my first character. I started another, on a different seed, to slowly play through. So should get at least another 300+ to get that one to the "end".

If you like building and exploring, this game has A TON of it. To me, it is well worth the price.

if your friends said the last update did not add anything, they will ruin your experience by trolling and whinging. You may enjoy the game more by playing solo or finding some positive people to hang out with.

The last update (Hearth and Home) did make significant changes and added a number of things. What your friend is saying is it didn't add new biomes or bosses. If they're telling you that the H&H update didn't add any content then they are clearly only looking for progression beyond the Plains, which hasn't been added yet. Many players are whining about that because the only "update" they want is for progression so they can "beat" the game. While this can be an "achiever" game, if that's your only preference then maybe you should just wait for the game to be officially released. But if you like exploration, crafting and base building, then it's already a pretty good game which will only get better as more updates come out. For the amount of game play you can get for the EA price, it's well worth it. Try it yourself and form your own opinion, relying on the biased opinions of others takes your own objectivity out of the equation.

There is a lot of content already in the game, the last big update made several adds & changes, and there is a lot more still coming.

But don't by it for what it might be some day, buy it for what it is right now because it's an unfinished game.

Most likely but it will be far between them, right now its at slow pace mostly because of pandemic and small developer team i recommend to wait and see how the things will develop, at the current state there is no much to do but that only applies to one who finished main story.

Yes they are going to add more content. But, if they don't, I'm more than happy with what they have. I feel I have gotten more than my money's worth so far.

Plus, having the game now means I can stockpile supplies if, in the future, I find myself way over my head.

Yes! and it worth it so much, solo or coop, doesnt matter :) This an early access game that beats the majority of complete AAA games from big devs.
