Wolves disappeared from Staked Pen

Finally ventured into the Mountains. Built a pen to tame wolves. After getting killed a couple times, I finally trapped two wolves. Wandered away from the pen for a little bit in hopes that they'd calm down / stop being frightened. When I returned to the pen, they were gone. The staked walls were intact, so they didn't break the walls and escape.

Any idea what happened here??

Pro tip: Don't log out while your taming a wolf, I lost one doing this. I had to log out & go do something real quick, got back, logged back in & it despawned. Was a 2 star too.

If you’re taming night spawn wolves you have to start early or they will de spawn at sun up.
I’ve successfully tamed night spawns but you have to stay within visual distance at all times and then breed a pair of night spawns which creates a proper spawn cub.
The cub will then act like any day siawned wolf.

So essentially. Tame one night spawn. Fence them off. Bring another nearby and tame. Then breed them to create fully normal wolf that won’t de spawn
Dude , devs changes that like 2 mounths ago , nightspawns when just start to be tamed them will not despawn in daylight
I found my 2* wolf and i tame him in a whole day , after that just take him to my base being daytime

Yeah greater chance of 1 or 2 star spawn. Not far at all. Even less if you don’t use pen but dig a pit. Long as you’re out of line of sight they will chill.
Dig a pit; push them in. Throw in meat. Sit and wait! Lol
At first I tamed wolves when I didn’t have frost meade etc so built a cabin and lured them to a pen right beside it. Worked just fine.
After getting cold protection I just dig pits now, push them in, set up a crafting table and camp fire and just sit and chill.

Had the same thing. Have a pen stuff into a mountainside. Only one wall and it's stone with a metal door.

Same kind of thing. Pen was fine and unopened. Wolf was just gone. No drops, no nothing.
