Steam Awards
Can't believe Valheim didn't win either GOTY or Better With Friends. Valheim is leagues ahead of any of the AAA games that came out this year and that's just plain facts.
It's sad to see that many gamer's didn't vote for Valheim to win the awards, when it's clearly more deserving for an award then the average AAA dribble that releases these days.
Terraria did win an award, so it's good at least 1 indie game won something. Also Cyberbug 76 won an award despite being a train wreck, wth? hahaha.
Steam should maybe consider making a separate Indie Games Awards, so that indie games are given a fair go at the awards and are not drowned out by AAA garbage.

I say Valheim got freaking ROBBED for the "better with friends" award. It Takes Two isn't "better" with friends, it's practically required. I voted for GOTY but didn't think it would get it.

the devs failed to comply with the promises they made early on the year, there is no new biome in the near future... they just added a few mobs and called it a day
they didn't deserve any of those awards
This. Also Hearth&Home screwed around with too much for too many, including me.
Damn, am I still salty months later. But Valheim started off to become one of my dearest favourites ever - but became mediocre only.

I'm glad someone has made this thread, it really is crap that Valheim took no awards. I've played Cyberpunk and Village.... OK they have good graphics. But Valheim had the far superior story and gameplay.
Think the simps won GOTY for village

I have the same issue with the original promise the dev's made as some of the others on here and so I refused to vote for them. I don't know what changed but I can promise its not lack of funding.

This game should have won a steam award.
I have never played this game yet but after watching the videos on the store page but man does this game look awesome. Looks very well done. How is the pvp in this game? I saw plenty of PVE stuff in the videos but not much PVP can anyone explain?

Cast his vote for Valheim in several nominations. Unfortunately, other games won. I wish the developers creative success!

I was kind of the same. Ended up going for Forza Horizon 5, another game that I had spent a lot of time enjoying. I have the same issue with the original promise the dev's made as some of the others on here and so I refused to vote for them.
Obviously I'm still here so my patience clearly hasn't ran out, but the disproportionate about of hype that has been drummed up for very slow drips of concrete information about future content leaves me with concern. Like the Hearth & Home trailer was genuinely more exciting than finally learning the full scope of the update after all the time waiting for it. If it is true that they are now able to focus more on the content than previously, then they just might win GOTY when it is the correct year for it.
I can certainly see why Resident Evil Village won. It wasn't the award for the biggest game, the most in-depth game, or even the best value game. Whether it is your thing or not, it is hard to deny that it had a high density of quality poured into every minute of the experience. It did exactly what it was designed to do without a single catch or caveat.

Better with friends is a weird one, because it's just a slugfest between everything with any kind of multiplayer support. Valheim has a pretty great set of MP options but *everything* is massively better with friends where that's possible. I say Valheim got freaking ROBBED for the "better with friends" award. It Takes Two isn't "better" with friends, it's practically required. I voted for GOTY but didn't think it would get it.

Would the game have been better if it had won the GOTY award?

The game doesn't even have a pause feature in solo play, and you think it's GOTY? REALLY?

90 % click on random games to get the free garbage and the jury are users or simply accounts on Steam. Quality couldn't be lower

If Terraria is still winning awards there's clearly plenty of time to get there!

I've played neither RE: Village nor It Takes Two, but I've seen enough of both games (almost the entirety of the former, even) to understand why they won in their respective categories.
Of course I'd have much rather seen this game win in both or at least one category, but by no means did the awards go to bad or even undeserving games.
