Was standing off in the woods near one of the runestones telling of them and watched them wander off a moderate distance , then turn, and run as fast as possible back to the stone.
Odd way of programming it. They should wander back also. Obviously it's to keep them in the near vicinity of the stone.

If you watch fleeing deer, they tend to do the same AI when fleeing then returning usually to their original grazing spot.

Glad I am not the only one that had this problem. I did the build the put by the runestone bit and kind of solved the issue. But yeah regardless of what I would before the pit, the moment the boar had a chance they would bolt back to the runestone from where they spawned, didn't have to be scared or anything. Rather annoying.

The tamed ones may try to go back to their spawn ; the bred ones will stay there. As long as you can breed some and kill the old ones, this problem should sort out by itself. Or tame / breed them on the spot, and bring the offspring to your farm ? should work too.
The ones that spawn at night (wolves especially, 2 stars boars too, prolly ?) will try to run when day comes (they want to get out of sight to despawn) unless you manage to get them to eat some stuff and start the taming process before morning. They don't despawn anymore once taming is started. But if taming is not started at daylight, they won't eat anymore, they just try to run.

True however.i got them into one place so i have a little farm but i accidently opened the gate and they ran towards their spawn, is there anyway of fixing that
Running usually means they're been frightened by something. I'm assuming the fear flight ai doesnt alter once tamed so it reverts to a default set of parameters akin to what it has before being tamed.
Best way to prevent that is to put your pig farm in a pit so they've no way to get out.
tamed boars dont fear fire and will attack hostile mobs, so they dont scare and run away anymore.
If there is a boar stone, and you move 2 boars from it into a fenced zone, and then tame them, if you open the door they will try to walk back to the rune stone.
There i no way but, you tame them and then breed them, when they have breed just kill them, so they dont try to walk back. i got them into one place so i have a little farm but i accidently opened the gate and they ran towards their spawn, is there anyway of fixing that

Its just a bad game mechanic, makes hunting a total joke. They always walk in a straight line to their spawn point. No questions asked

Tactically put your farm where they spawn.

It's annoying honestly.
I think the running around when not frightened is related to that as well.
