The whole "This game has been out for a whole year and there's no content" is just flat-out tedious. ScienceDog probably has vomit bags on hand due to his head constantly spinning from shutting down all these inflammatory topics.

I propose we collectively post details of programming, break it down in laymans terms and give examples of games and game mechanics that seem very user-friendly but are actually quite complex and in-depth.

Off the top of my head is a game i remember playing for the Playstation 2 called Fighter Maker. It was a fighting game that gave you the tools to not only create your fighter's looks but to actually create his moves from scratch.

RPG Maker series, most wrestling games nowadays, Souls games, basically any game that allowed for customization but on so many other levels.

I just wanna stop this hostility and make sure a Mod doesn't from severe ulcers.

It took 5 people less than 4 years to make Valheim. A year later we should have 25% more content, not 3%..

The fact modders were able to produce mods like EpicLoot in weeks, while it allegedly took 5 devs a year to give us tar pits and gold piles means you are as silly as the people saying Star Citizen isn't a scam.

Sorry to say, but these threads contribute to that "problem" and lead to exactly the opposite: More discussion about mentioned statements.

Please don't be part of the problem. Ignore such comments, don't engage with trolls and report rule breaking activities. That's all we ask you to do. Thank you!

I like it. Gotta feel for the mods. I honestly hope the devs don't actually read these forums because there is so much negativity that I don't understand. It's the same pattern on forums from every Early Access game I own.

Like, c'mon. I get you like the game and you want more content, but not every game works like that. Content take time to create, especially with a small dev team.

I'm sure it's not just me, but I love buying an EA game and playing through it. Then, coming back to it after a few major updates and it's a whole new game that I already own (even though I haven't done that with Valheim. Been playing it fairly often, update or no).

Valiant, but sadly going to fail. It's the internet... always going to be those types that just don't get it, or don't want to get it.

Entitlement and AAA companies obsessed with nothing but money have ruined gaming.

I won't disagree with that, but people also have a hard time accepting differences, especially when someone doesn't like what you like. Isn't that what this thread is ultimately about? Trying to convince people that don't like Valheim on why they should like it?

I love math. It's my hobby, passion and career. I gave up a long, long time ago, trying to convince people to like math. I've ultimately come to the conclusion that I have no standing to tell people what they should like. I can show you what I think is cool about math, but if you don't think that's cool, then there is nothing I can do about that. You may think math is boring, tedious, grindy, while I think it's amazing, powerful and creative.

So if people intend on trying to convince people to like Valheim, I would ask you to think about...what if I tried to convince you to like math. How receptive would you be to that?

I say, let the people complain. We all do it. And, in my opinion, trying to convince these people to like Valheim is analogous to me trying to convince you to like math.

Kind of you to worry, but I'll be ok haha. As long as things are kept constructive, relevant to the game and polite then you'll never even know I'm here. It's fine to disagree with others and to start a conversation about anything Valheim-related, but keep it civil, please.

I read almost every post on here and I'm constantly amazed by the ideas you all present and the awesome builds you all create. You all inspire me to build bigger and better, and I appreciate it. Keep up the amazing work, Vikings. Skål!

People are going to complain no matter what the subject is. Im finding it funny how similar the complaints are. If they dont like the game dont play it, why beach about it. Maybe they like the attention lol

Patience is a virtue sadly missing for some in this "instant gratification" world..OP grab a fishing line some bait and drop a line.. or just drop a line.. both might change your view ..or then again not.. Personally Valheim is a most refreshing piece of work.. go at your own pace discover things for yourself.. die a lot and work it out.. if you want neverending challenge download 90Gig of LostArK and realise the futility of getting to level 1400 gear while enduring scripted stories of go here do this grab that. which you need to find on the web to get thru!! .. while waiting online to get on a server if you are born in the wrong continent.. or imho enjoy a masterwork for what it is and for the size and money a much more enjoyable journey..ps im in swamp level and about 800+ hours... and play vanilla.. (in the dark mostly ..yes base built just decorating a bit

Not for me. I don't feel the need to try and convince anyone to like Valheim. It only matters that I do since I bought it.

What twists my nips are those that make these erroneous statements about how games should be made.

Or about this dev teams intentions, and how they should be handling it. Low key just wish all companies would stop doing EA games. I mean, I see why they do.

But since it seems most of today's newer gamers are so use to getting everything now now now, they fail to comprehend EA structure and how it works.

Personally, I also feel part of it is, for instance, generational differences. I came up playing EQ on dial-up. frequented computer shows, and build my own rigs. Also helps, I went to school for art with computer animation as a minor.

Most of those I see or know now that still pc game (which are younger acquaintences or friends), buy out of the box rigs. They know very little about programming, building pc's etc. So to me, this adds to these folks lack of knowledge or understanding.

Exactly the part in bold. EXACTLY!

So far, ~99% people I see screaming bloody murder (the game is dead, the devs have took the money and ran, they bought a horse instead of working on the game 24/7, blah blah blah) come from non-developers, and people who call themselves developers because they used some game making program like Construct 2. My goth, they are obnoxious.

I agree that it almost makes me want to suggest to developers not to release in Open Beta/Alpha (Early Access), just to deter from having to deal with these types of people. Then again, at the same time, I say to hell with those people screaming bloody murder. There is a disclaimer warning people that it's Early Access before buying. They need to hold themselves accountable.

20+ years in the industry and no matter which era, there is always the ignorant saying the most asinine things about what and how development is/should be. Always comparing software development with that of factory production line working. [s] YeS lETS hIrE 1,000 pEoPlE tO hAsTeN tHe DeVeLoPmEnT!11 Herp Derp... [/s]

:lunar2019crylaughingpig: :AngryMoonman: :steamfacepalm:

I was an early adopter for Kenshi. Waited 12 years for its full release. While others cried about LoFi abandoning the game, I spent the last 12 years doing other stuff than whine about one game's development process.

Until IronGate has proven, in 3-5 years that development for Valheim is a literal stand-still from a developer's point of view, I know better than to 'hurry' and rage on them about it.
