Remap Controller buttons

Hey, so I'm loving this game and I've been playing for more than 40 hours already but one thing that's driving me crazy is a lot of times when I'm walking or sprinting away from something I often accidentally put my character into "crouch" position which has caused me to be killed...alot...

Anyway, is there a way to remap the controller buttons? I'd like to swap the "sit" function (which I never use) to be the sneak. I tried in the settings but it didn't seem to cooperate. Thanks!

I looked up the controller, it looks nice, good find! It claims to be compatible with Steam on both Mac and Windows operating systems, which is good. If it works on every other system you've tried it on, maybe try disconnecting the controller from Steam and somehow having Steam forget it, then try to reconnect? Otherwise, maybe a new controller would work.

I'll admit, I'm still new to Steam itself, especially the controller set up system. At this point, I'd ask what controller you're using and if problems exist in other games while you're using that controller. If other games run well with the controller in question, I'd probably say it's something with the game itself.

I have zero experience with Switch controllers, let alone on Steam, but I have heard Microsoft controllers (i.e Xbox and the like) work best in Steam. I would attribute that to the dominant operating system being Windows, no idea how well one controller would work over another on a different operating system while in Steam. I guess, if you're operating system is Windows and your controller is working with other games, it has something to do with the game (it's not fully released yet so issues are guaranteed).

Maybe a last ditch effort would be to acquire an Xbox controller (360 ones exist for cheap, I know a great brand I got mine from) and see if it works then. It could also be a Steam issue if it's not cooperating with your controller all too well.

I'd recommend going into Big Picture mode (that's how they better optimized controller usage anyway) and fiddle with some of the mapping. If you're still having problems, like that odd pop up, it might be your controller or Steam is being picky, not sure how to remedy that, personally.

I had the controller screen randomly pop when hitting settings initially. I don't really want to play enough to find out though, due to the messed up bindings. (Too hard to relearn - I'll just wait.) I'm still glad they are making an effort 'cuz it is an awesome game.

Did you remap under "big picture mode"? I did that but it stopped recognizing that I'd changed it to Switch buttons. What I'd really like to do is get rid of "sit" and use that button for "sneak" I can't tell you how many times I've died b/c I accidentally clicked down on the left thumbstick. I'm over 50 hours in, total (about 30 with my current character) and I don't want to wait but I may have to. I'm using an 8bitdo 2, btw.

Me Too!!! (about the sitting randomly lol) And no about Big Pic Mode. I just clicked the button I wanted to remap after placing my cursor in the right box in Settings, last tab. Unfortunately, none of that works now though.

I'm so glad they are fully supporting controller :medidynasty_wolf: - but I can no longer remap my controller buttons like before. I am used to the setup I had (similar to other games I play), so this is pretty bad. :Chief_Knife: I will actually have to wait for the update with remap/keybind options. Especially having the jump key slotted to O which in most games is back out!! haha omg. Wrecking me.:medidynasty_death:

Well, I was never really able to remap buttons but I did have it set up for Switch controller buttons but that stopped working last week and I've been unable to get it back.

Also, I've had the new controller screen pop up randomly while I'm playing (and oddly, it's always been when I'm fighting trolls) and then my character just stands there while I'm killed. I basically have to restart the game to get things going again. Anyone else encountering anything similar?
