Building in Mistlands

Hey,
do you know, if theres any rock formation big enoug to build in? I found big rocks which would be big enough, but unfortunately its not possible to dig further than a few meters cause theres vertical humus that cannot be removed/digged..

Has anoyone build a living cave successfully`with enough space?

I had a base where I was putting my garden on the shoreline as someone suggested. So I hammered the rocks away and then filled it in smooth with dirt/rock/ Then when I tried to cultivate the spot it said not allowed.
Correct. Use the grassy area you have access to.
Thank you. I knew someone else had to have tried leveling a rocky area to make a garden.

Just because you have not encountered the situation does not mean it does not exist.

i was genuinely curious as to why you were having the issue and simply explained that i and my friends have all not had that issue and you're just trying to start a fight?

get reported for toxicity dude.

again, this is an issue i've stated i did not have whatsoever.

i can literally cultivate any land i point the cursor at so again, this isn't some universal bug you're having.

do you have mods enabled?

because certain farming mods from before the mistlands update were broken with the addition of shrooms and bugs like this would happen.

for me, i haven't had a single issue cultivating mistlands soil.

The cave build for a base in the mistlands is actually the safest place to build in the game. I've done several 'caves' now and I've never had to defend these bases from pesky raids. You can use this type of base to great advantage for farming seeker meat and royal jelly. And you can do this almost right away with only bronze gear if you feel like making the game more challenging.

because mistlands is where you grow mushrooms and you can't actually grow anything else there.

you do realize that farms are biome specific right?

can't plant barley and flax anywhere but plains, can't plant the mushrooms anywhere but mistlands.

so trying to expand a farm from one biome to another is a nogo, especially when it's mistlands.
My post went right over your head....

You might want to figure out what the word cultivate means.

Absolutely nothing in the game can be planted until you cultivate the soil to allow things to be planted. So your whole mansplaining gardening and biomes was completely pointless because seeds cannot even be planted.

your post didn't go over my head, it just seemed that you were trying to make a farm you shouldn't have in the mistlands.

i myself have had zero issues cultivating land in the mistlands.

do you play with mods by chance?

because vanilla the feature works exactly as intended.

can level the ground, (it's perfectly flat in the mistlands btw,) and then cultivate and add shrooms.

what i was originally saying was due to your comment sounding like you were upset you couldn't plant regular plants in the mistlands because you mentioned the extension from a grassy land into the mist.

i've never had to do that.

^see what i mean, you're making it sound like you're trying to plant things like carrots in the mistlands.

mushrooms don't have seeds, you just cultivate and plant them.

literally just plop mushies down anywhere in the mistlands after cultivating.

also,

<this is false

trees can be planted without cultivating.

Ok, thanks! I just found a larger spot. And as mentioned above, you need to dig up after to have more space. But Imo nothing really useful to build larger bases. I found something on yt and wonder hows this possible. :)

Dig under infested mines tends to work the one with the big staircase leading to the top. You can dig on the one side of the stairs for an entry point to dig out, and dig down & in from there. Did it on a friends world. Seen it done on youtube too, some people have done it before and made a cave base.

Nothing big, just small shelters for portals underneath the glowing sap trees. I raise the earth up to the horizontal sap trees, and leave just a small space to place a recessed door that bugs can't fit through. Then I just hollow out the space under the tree for permanent safe portal into and out from said tree. Maybe not the answer you were looking for, but outside of aesthetics there is no reason for a permanent base in mistlands. Portals for sap, make a earth wall enclosed mushroom farm on the edge of a mist area with a nearby portal in a safer zone, and then temp portals outside of dungeons and queen really.... Just bring a full stack of blackmetal bars to mistlands so u can make what you need there.

Yes, not sure if it works in the mistlands. I would assume it would though
