Dumb question wilderness chest destruction - coins?

TLDR - Question - where are the mysterious coins coming from upon destroying these chests? I loot chest of -all- contents, 100% nothing else in any slot, but upon destroying, I hear tinkle of coins and get some gold.

Is this some hidden feature of Valheim? I routinely destroy chests/shacks found out in wild, partly for easy resources, mostly b/c read nothing respawns in them. Any chest/shack I see must be a new one and don't waste time rechecking old ones since I destroy them after.

I usually destroy via workbench hammer click to remove, since easier to remove shack + chest that way. Soon as I delete the chest, coin tinkle sound and I get some gold, not a but wondering why these coins don't show in chest inventory?

this should only work if you dig under it and jump into it 50 times.

As a side note, "natural" chests also have NO repair sound, when built ones do.

It makes me think the treasure chests we can build now were intended for to be dug up, probably part of a future update, and somehow the sounds got mixed up with the old chests that spawn.

Adding some more bizarre behavior is that chests out in the wild -inside stone towers- do not have a coin tinkling sound when you destroy them.

Only chests found in abandoned shacks, houses, etc.

I've tried now dozen+ other chests found in stone wall areas or stone tower remnants, and 100% they delete via work hammer like any other chest. So for some reason, it is only the chests found in wooden shacks that has this extra sound effect.

Will re-confirm it wasn't just the audio sound and actually got coins because while I thought I did, will re-check on next chest found.

at first i thought - hey cool i looted the chest and now i can "hear da monee" but its just a sound

- a looted chest will onyl return wood when destroyed via workbench and hammer
i prefer using the stagbreaker XD its more fun

Yeah, it's just a sound effect. Unless the chest actually has coins in it when you destroy it you won't receive coins.

Yeah it's just a pointless sound effect added to chests that are naturally found... could easily be removed and nobody would care.

Sad, confirmed this myself. I was tricked by the sound before and tested it again with zero coins in my inventory and you all are right, just a sound effect. Wonder why they added that when there is already a sound effect for destroyed wood?

Found this out yesterday when looting the chests under the floorboards of the big house in a Draugr village. Don't remember that every happening, guess it's something I'll need to do now to get some extra coins.

But your saying you actually get coins out of destroying a chest when infact there are no coins showing inside it? Weird. I will have to try this

If you fully loot the chest and still get coins when destroying it.. sounds a lot like a bug to me.

I'll try this myself as I'm about to load up my game.

It's a quite dumb new audio effect that was added in last update. It would make sense if you had to break open a chest full of valuable, but as you probably already opened and looted it, I don't see the point, hence the word "dumb".
