Carrying too much stuff?

So twice now I've been stuck after collecting too much wood and my guy suddenly and starts sweating. A pop up banner keeps telling me I've got too much stuff, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to drop some weight once in this state. Both times I've ended up Exiting the game after pressing every single button. I can eat food in my inventory when I'm in this Dazed, Sweaty condition, but can't lay a stack of logs nor discard a used up weapon. Help!

CTRL + L MOUSE was really the answer I needed. Could not figure out how to Throw or Discard this stuff once he's sweating and frozen.

I've never had it function like that, further, you can't "auto pickup" a dropped item without leaving render completely and returning. The game disables auto pickup on dropped items until its reloaded. Either you have some broken mod messing with you or are experiencing a freakish amount of bugs my friend.

All have to check V+ to see if something isn't misconfigured.

Great tips. I still find it odd that he just stands frozen when "bulking out" rather than just dropping stuff if he's carrying over his limit. However, I appreciate all the good advice!

What I have done is throw away the heavies (unwanted) items, like stone, until you get 300/300 or below. What you can also do if you dont want to get rid of anything that is weighting you down, is throw out of your inventory what is weighting you down, then that will allow you to get stamina back up. Then pick up the item again, walk as far as you can until your stamina depletes again and you stop, then throw out the item again...rinse and repeat, until you get where you want to go. It is hard work and very time cunsuming, but it beats throwing out items that are heavy but you want to keep, like ores that you have mined

Sound advices, but only when you have enough stamina left. OP was beyond this state and "couldn't lay a stack of logs", but whatever.

When auto pick up it turn on, it will only pick up as much as you can carry. when you stop picking stuff up that means you can't carry anymore, and that means you are putting youself into this problem.

Tip: split stacks and drop abit till you are no longer sweaty.

It would be nice if auto-pickup checked to see if you can carry something before picking it up. It's very annoying when you have 1/2 a unit of weight left and it picks up a heavy object.

We know the function is there when you're at max weight, so let's expand it to when it's below that.

like shady wrote: drop some stuff out (open the inventory and pick and move stuff out of the window - you should now drop the things)
usually i mark that point on my map and come back later after i moved the remaining items back to the current base/construction site

otherwise you could leave it
stuff will despawn (when no workbench or fire is near)

Make a wood stack

or Make a bench and chest and put stuff in it.

I mean you are carrying a bunch of wood after all.

Knowing how to drag and drop stuff out of your inventory is important though. You are not always collecting wood.

Longer term in-game solutions are to build a cart (needs bronze) or bring a mount along. (Needs confident access to the Plains)

You can also turn off auto-pickup in the settings.
