The mule system fail

I don't know how the rest of the community calls it, we call it the mule system.
When one player fills his inventory with ore so he cannot move and the other player hooks him up with a harpoon and drags him over the land to the ship. It's super effective way to move large quantities of ore over long distances.
We use it as soon as we get chitin for a harpoon. So we don't need to bother with carts and roads. So we usually get 20-30 stacks of ores, one of us empties his inventory and get all the ores and the other one drags him either directly to the base or to the ship. There is usually the third guy to protect us, but it's easily doable with just two players.

However, there is a problem with this system when we are using feather capes. It is super easy to bring large quantities of silver down the mountain. We just jump from top and glide all the way down the mountain.
The problem occurs when player who is dragging the mule lose his stamina. The line breaks and the mule ends up catapulted a long distance... a long distance meaning a kilometre or more. Similar to that YT videos a lot of us have seen where players were catapulting each other for fun.
And it is not a big deal when you have a map and the mule lands in the safe area. It happened to us several times (one time it was great as the mule landed just 50 meters away from the ship).

What happened to us last night was the horror...

We didn't know that can happen while we are running on the land. We thought it is only possible when flying.
We cleared a few fuling villages, the mule had a few stacks of black metal and a few stacks of iron scraps we got earlier and we needed to run 500 meters to the ship. An easy task... at least we thought so.
So, the mule was scrolling his facebook while i was dragging him... at one moment I jumped and he was catapulted a long distance. And he didn't see anything. When we asked him where is he, he just said he is in the swamp and he thought he saw some plains. The most landmasses around us were plains and swamps so that info was not really helpful. We are playing no-map (so no pings or any other directional help). We knew the general direction he flew away, but he was completely lost. He somehow found his way out of the swamp and left all the ores in one chest in BF and continued exploring the land on foot with 25 hp so he can give us more details. To make it worse his orientation skills in no-map world are zero. He is completely relying on the rest of us when it comes to navigating. We spent 2 hours sailing around in search for him and all the ores he had.
After some time we remembered to use fireworks (bonfire+surtling cores) to find him. And it worked great. He saw our fireworks so we knew he was close and we just needed to find landmarks he described earlier in order to find his location.
We were super happy when we found him.
He wasn't happy at all. He said he hates no-map and he won't be our mule ever again :)
But, once again, we needed to haul all the ores back to the ship... and he was the mule once again :) And the catapult thing happened again hehe
But this time he was paying attention and he immediately pressed one of movement keys and just stopped the flight. Now we know you can cancel the flight at any moment which is the great news.
In the end, we were super lucky that he survived without any foods for that long. He had basic food like deer meat and cloudberries, but that is not great food especially when you have night spawn fulings.
If he died, we would probably lose all his gear and ores he had on him.

So be careful when using this technique... even if you are using a map and it's easy to find you, you can land in the middle of dangerous area and die and make the recovery of your gear and ores really difficult.

Enable friendly fire.

Yes, you both need to have friendly fire enabled.

I wonder if it computed his weight as part of the catapult physics and really got him moving far.
I don't know. We never tested it. But i doubt it has anything to do with weight. As I could see from YT videos they used technique when the hooked guy had to jump and harpoon guy had to release in the right moment. They flew away different distances each time they tried.

We never tried it without a load. Also, it does not happen all the time. Maybe it is lag related. We used this technique a lot and it happened only 5 times. Three times while gliding down the mountain (and the line broke every time my stamina reached zero) and two times yesterday as described in original post. These two times it was not stamina related. Both times it happened when I jumped.

Maybe we can test it more tonight...
