are active players the same as players on a server?
i'm so confused and the internet is not clear on this i have a friend who has 10 people on his server but they are not all active at the same time. how does the capping system work? like would i be able to join because all 10 players are not active or would i not be able to join? the internet is very unclear about this.

As far as I know, the limitation is for simultaneous players, so 10 players max logged and playing at the same time on a server.

Servers only keep track of worlds, not characters/players. The 10 player limit is for how many simultaneous people can be on at a time.
