Yeah, I built a big base on the sides/top of a plains pillar. Nice views but I keep wishing the devs would add the ability to craft a telescope with some leather and the stone golem crystals.

You can build high enough that you do not see the ground.

They won’t render an unlimited distance, so most likely no.

You could potentially see other biomes from a tower, but creatures only render if they are within range to be active, and that's much more limited.
