Too many mobs

always a mob to kill, then 30sec later 3 more greydwarfs, then you go at your base running with 4 skeletons behind you, at base you have now the forest who is waking up, today that damn forest waking up 3 times =) =)
it ruins the game honestly

From here on now, it's only going to get worse. Buckle up for when you star mining copper...

Each mob you'll be encountering on the next biomes are many times tougher than the greidwarves. The guys at this forum are pros at telling you how easy this game is, but their advices come down to 1x1 encounters. Noone needs advices for 1x1 encounters.

The problem is... rare will be the occasions when you'll fight just one of them. Multiples, either at the same time or within a few seconds of distance from one another. And worse: one of them is going to be at least one STAR of difficulty.

"Take your time" to kill that Greidwarf Brute and you'll find yourself fighting 1 Brute, 2 skeletons, 1 Shaman and a Troll. Don't, move fast, kill every mob you find, on sight. DO NOT let their numbers add up. This is even more true for the next biomes.

That tells me you've not put up defenses like most do to make most of those things a non issue.

Trenches AND high ground raised walls are the easiest methods for this as most mobs are vertically challenged.

Later when you kill later game bosses you'll start to encounter events with flying mobs too so plan defenses for the future accordingly into your base construction considerations.

Being close to 1 biome will of course ensure that you encounter mobs from that biome but EVents are actually based on which tier boss you've previously killed. When you kill Eikthyr, you then trigger getting black forest biome events that can potentially spawn to intentionally attack you.

Events can thus happen in different biomes from the one the mobs are usually seen in. Think on it like the next boss is sending denizens to prevent you from killing em.

I use to build my base in black forest because i like the look and the sounds. For me its perfect if i got a small black forest spot between swamp and plains biom at the coast.

The permanent interruptions when working especially in the night is because the enemy is attracted by working sounds. The good is they show you the weak points in your defense to prepare for serious raids. :D

Uh, build a fence around your base where your workbench area of effect ends.

I started a fresh toon this week with the plan of killing all bosses without using any glitches. No moats, raised earthen walls, clipping, or using stagbreaker AOE to find silver. Just build a base and use fencing to secure it.

First base was at Meadows/Forest boundary inside a larger dwarf tower. Got some boars, bees, carrots, and turnips going there. Have had both dwarf and troll raids, no issue. Just repair fence once event ends and mobs dead.

Second 'base' is on Elder platform after I killed him. There is a swamp a couple hundred yards from there. Found a couple crypts so far and also some sertling spawners. No stones yet showing me Bonemass location though =/ Hopefully this second crypt I just found will have a stone.

It is actually much easier play than I would expect, considering my first partial playthrough to silver era where I only killed Eikthyr. Give it some time, you'll get it figured out.

One major difference I am finding on this play Is that I am skipping many items and also not upgrading to them to max. First play I got every shield, bow, mace, etc and max upgraded before moving onto next area. This time I went from wooden shield to banded, skipping bronze completely. Also only had lvl 1 bronze mace before getting an iron mace. There is much less grind this way.

I would argue the opposite there arent enough of them, and honestly that event is just free loot and you should see it as +

Hee hee! Welcome to Valheim. Kill. Get killed. Kill more. Persist. Lose. Win. Take on the next challenge. Lose. Die. Learn. Win. Replete.

You just were unlucky. You probably passed a Greydwarf nest, then next a burial site. You can't just storm through this world. You have to take it slowly. That you had three events in a row is just bad luck. I had in game weeks of no events. It's totally random.

I think it's the right mixture. Some people complain there are not enough mobs (especially plains). I find it just enough. Any more and it would ruin it for me. On that one largish Plains island I've been spending my time on lately were tons of tar pits! You had to watch out were you were going, or you had one of those growths at your heels.

That was almost too much for me as well. But I learned to live with it and proceed even more with caution. Which is what you should do in Valheim.

it ruins the game honestly

1. Being active at night spawns more mobs around you.

2. Patience and a slow pace to start when you transition to and venture into the next tier of difficulty of a biome.

3. Events triggering is a bit random, but if you want to avoid higher tier events from the "rallies" one(ie boar and neck), make new map seeds for each boss level so each map only has the first event chance to spawn.

4. Always be prepared.

5. Remember this is a survival genre game. The game intentionally is conspiring to kill you. Play accordingly.

Judging from you're game library, I can see why that is how you feel. Mostly fast paced shooters.

Wait until you discover that you don't have enough eyes for portals or eyescream. Then the forest will be deathly quiet.

Most biomes seem overrun when you enter them for the first time. Then, after you clear out an area fewer mobs will spawn back, and you'll wonder why you ever thought it was hard. Unless it's night. Although skeletons have started to respawn around crypts. They didn't do that before. Get the dwarves and the skellies to fight each other to get them off your back.

The raids are just luck. They don't usually go that often. You "rolled a one" several times in a row.
