New Changes
Hey, all.
Just curious, how much has the game changed since launch? I had a great time playing with friends on a server, but it ran out of steam for us with the lack of content at the time.
We're now well into post-launch. What has changed since then? When I browse the page and the update list, it seems to be slim. Is it primarily focused on building? I had high hopes that they would launch new, large areas to explore and expand the boss list.
My worry is that the game has taken a big swing in the "sandbox builder" direction and if so, that's not really my jam at the moment.
Thanks!

@Cobretti Just curious, but what 'typical' survival games are you talking about?
I ask because many of the survival games I play have no 'boss' fights at all. They are about surviving hostile environments (which can include mob threats, but there is no end stage or end game boss fight the player is working towards).
For example games like The Long Dark, Subnautica, Stationeers and the like. These are all survival games with no boss fights.
So are you talking more along the lines of Ark?

If you just focused on clearing content you would finish the game in a couple RL days excluding boss cheesing (using bows, trenches, campfires) which makes it even faster.
Not a whole lot of new content since release and the bosses are stupid easy so it isn't like a typical survival game that requires you to spend time building up for a boss fight. You just need a shield to parry, weapon of choice, couple potions, a bit of farming for food and game is finished.
This is more of an exploration game with basic fighting and bosses which is fine, a lot of people like that which is why there are still heaps playing but I'm not playing this to scratch my survival game itch

If you feel the initial EA release was low on content and you're specifically looking for an expanded roster of bosses and biomes to explore... you're probably best off waiting until the game is complete. Because then you will have 4 more bosses and 9 fleshed out biomes compared to the 5 1/2-ish you've already exhausted. Right now, there are no additional biomes or bosses -- the changes have been fixes, improvements, and additions to existing biomes and mechanics.
I don't think development has taken a swing in the "sandbox builder" direction. A lot of players are enjoying the building, which is fairly creatively open and skilled builders keep getting better. Hearth and Home included some additional build-pieces, but this was planned anyway, and more build pieces will happen with some new materials in new biomes. If development had changed course for building, we would have seen changes/elaboration of the build mechanics to better support the crazy builds people are making anyway.

Tons of changes to progression with food.. re balance of stamina so you have to manage it better than at launch.. not much difference if you were careful anyway.
New weapons, new mini bosses, ride a lox, new armor, new area in the mountains with new resources.
If you are looking to extend from a previous save you will miss out on most of the changes. If you start over there is a lot that has changed.
So if you can handle it, it is there for you. Best experienced as a new character on a new save to appreciate all that was done.
