Mountains, danger level got way too steep
So I managed to bonk Bonemass and get his wishbone, scoured all the mountains in the world and finally found one with silver. The mountains before had some drakes and wolves, no biggie, but this mountain with silver keeps spawning golems on me.
After barely managing to take one down from using roll-dodge technique I googled how one's supposed to take them on and finally understood what parry is lol so that was a good experience. But, even with parry mastered fighting the golems is super weird. The terrain is super bumpy and the pickaxe is so extremely slow and the golems will manage to move just one pixel wrong and then you just dig yourself down into a hole so they can freely smack you to their hearts content.
During the fight both wolves and drakes will also spawn on you and in combination with the golems just makes the fight extremely dangerous and one wrong move sends you back to bed.
It also feels like it's night all the time and the mobs just get OP then.
How do people go about enjoying the mountains? Did I get super unlucky with golems spawning around me ALL the time? I mean, I can harvest maybe 4-6 silver then it's back to fighting this meaningless fight again. The swamps were nothing compared to this, what did I miss?
Of course I keep fed with sausages, turnip stew and meat, I think I get like 150 or so hp. Also frost resistance. Can't wait to be done with mountains, the Fulings and deathsquitos is a breeze compared to this

i shield block the first and second attack the golem does then try to get in 2-3 hits then back to blocking with shield for another 1-2, sometimes the golem will do a third attack so just observe his 1-3 attack timings and go in after either his second or third attack with a mace. if you are low on stamina move away till you have max stamina again and again go in with a block 1-3 times then swing 1-2 times if you manage to parry him you might be able to get 3 attacks in. GL!

Parry and thwack, parry and thwack, parry and thwack. After clearing the area from other dangers ofc. Easy golem kills all day.
Wolves are easy enough to handle, especially if you learn to parry them, unless you happen to pull several packs at once. Then it gets challenging.
Drakes rarely manage to hit me since there's usually a ton of time to dodge their projectiles and draugur fang absolutely wrecks them.
Pulling a full combination can get pretty hectic and dangerous but is most of the time a very avoidable occurrence if you're careful and mindful of your surroundings.

Just iron mace the golems, pick axe method is for try hards.

Dig a pit and trap them. If you kill a golem they will just respawn over time. You can even harpoon them and drag them into pits. Put a workbench near to it so it won't despawn.
Golems will typically be on mountains with silver. Actually before I get the wishbone I explore mountains looking for golems in order to find silver.
My current playthrough I have leveled up silver armor, Drauger Fang and Frostner but I have not even killed Bonemass yet. The advantage of that is not having to worry about a wolf hunt event while exploring mountains.
edit add - they also kill the occasional drake or wolf while trapped so you can run in and grab free drops.

Never been that afraid to golems except for the first encounters ... Bonemass forsaken power and proper iron gear have been enough to get one down in close combat. Didn't even do this pickaxe crap again, after trying it once ... that only destroys the ground if you miss. Not sure if I used the iron sword or the iron club instead. I think both did their job.

Clear out an area before fighting a golem. Jump attack them with a pickaxe so you don't pickaxe the ground. I always dodge roll them then circle around and jump attack. Repeat. They move slowly so if you get adds run off a bit, deal with the adds, then come back to the golem.
Set up a fortified mountain outpost with a portal. If you put in on a nearly sheer cliff section, like on top of a large rock outcrop it'll be immune to most attacks except drakes, which won't attack it they can't see you.
Never ever be out at night, the enemies are much stronger.
When you're mining set up a work bench and some torches as both items create a 20m no spawn zone. This helps lessen the chance of getting adds as they can't spawn close by.
And finally, if you think the Mountains are bad, just wait for the plains.
The Mountains are a cakewalk in comparison.
