Look around for some resources, can you try building a rudimentary lathe?

Put down some no spawn items. Makes a 20m buffer.
I always dig down then place a little roofed bench plus portal and chest.
Throw a couple torches up around the edges. Throw stone and ore in chest, ferry stone through the portal for later use. Run silver up/down the mountain when I'm done with the vein.

they're piss easy to kill with bonemass buff, but when it respawns every 3minutes or so and you're busy mining - it's annoying as hell. If I have same problem on next mountain (done with that one) - I'll try to put him into dighole

Brilliant tip with the Stone golem, I have only met one so far, in my crappy early game gear, but I can see I may need to try recruiting one or two golem's in the future,

Dig a hole and drop him in it. Put a bench near by to make sure he won't despawn and anything he kills will be free drops.

Killing them just lets them respawn.

This one was keeping the drakes off me until I finally dropped him in a hole.

How do deep and wide hole has to be and how do you bait him in?

I'd say chest deep or deeper to be safe. The key factor is the sharpness of the drop, shallower may work. Only really needs to be as big as he is around.

To bait him in you can stand in the hole and he will walk up to the edge, just undercut his feet and he will drop in. If you aren't fast enough he may get a hit in. Make sure you keep you stamina up to jump out right away. A deeper hole will make it safer if he is a swing down type.

Alternatively you can use a harpoon and drag him into it, that is safer but requires a harpoon.
