Not every dungeon has them, but most do. They are very often in the hidden room.

Afaik you need 15 to build one of every new station, and more if you want to build some of the new building stuff (lanterns).

The real loot of dungeons is Royal Jelly, most everything else is filler junk.

I also noticed I got 1 sealbreaker fragment.. which looks like I need 9 of to open the area to get tot he queen. So just those two things and I guess the meat and carapace from the enemies. The chests are just lousy..

Mountains initially had no dungeon, Frost Caves are an extra addition.

But somehow you're leaving out Black Cores from the mistland dungeons which you also NEED.

Well it's true that chests are bad but I for one am thankful. Chest loot in this game, like many survival crafting games, becomes pretty worthless early on, iron from swamp crypts being the one exception. You need a few thousand gold to get some quality of life items from the trader then it becomes less useful than Gray Dwarf Eyes. Playing, as I do, with a packrat if there were more loot that would just mean more worthless junk to hump out of dungeons and back to base to fill up chests to no good purpose.

Again this is pretty typical for the survival crafting game type. You have limited capacity to carry stuff and they delight in making you choose between something that we have been taught to value, like gold or money, and something you actually need, like ammo or food when filling it.

hmm haven't seen one yet.. or we never found it if there was one in the dungeon we did.

You need 20-25 and its a struggle. I am running like we did in the black forest where you make a kiln, make coal, break it, make a smelter, smelt stuff, break it, put your portal back up...

Dwarves are very stingy people

Isn't dungeon loot in general lacking?
Like best you can hope for is ore, which you still need to smelt.

Well the dungeons in their respective biomes usually provide you with things you actually need though. In the Black Forest you NEED cores, in the Swamp you NEED iron, in the Mountains meh.. nothing really "needed" here but crystal, fenris claw and fenris hair do all serve a purpose IF you make their respective gear.
