Birch Seeds
Do Birch trees drop seeds?
Dropped quite a few and would like to think they do and I've just been unlucky and have found none rather than they will run out.

When it comes to trees that you grow yourself, the stage of growth is relevant. Even if the tree appears to be fully grown, there is another stage, and when the tree is cut down in the previous stage, the seeds will not fall out.
I havn't seen this anywhere else. Is this true?

Yeah this is why I usually don't like when the self appointed netiquette police shouting "Necro!!!!" whenever a thread more than a week old is replied to. We're suppsed to search, we're not supposed to reply to an old thread? The unwritten rules need to be rewritten. Problem is people say USE a SEARCH before making Another Thread, so use search, find thread ask a question in searched thread and BOOM you necroed a thread, can not win really on steam forums, hell I got a warning from a mod for nercoing a thread on another game, so I never bother searching anymore.
If somebody revives a thread to add absolutely nothing, or is responding to a topic that is no longer relevant because the subject is obsolete then sure that makes sense. But if somebody is actively adding to the conversation then it shouldn't matter when the OP started it.

This thread was necro'd from February...days after release. It was established a few days later, they do not drop, nor do Oak seeds (but there are mods).

Better for someone to necro this thread and give the correct answer (mine) rather then those of us searching threads to have this...

...be the expectation.
You're welcome.

i hate that "necro" ever became a term.
if there's a relevant thread, always better to continue that than start a new one.
posting irrelevant or useless stuff is bad regardless of the age of the thread, necro is still a dumb term to use in those situations too.
stupid internet culture, rant rant!

Does it matter what stage a tree you cut down out in the wild? I took out more than 20 mature looking birch trees and didn't get any seeds.

Yeah, this. No tree that yields fine wood drops seeds. Fine wood is non-renewable. Other posters may have been getting birch confused with beech, which drops plenty of seeds.
When it comes to trees that you grow yourself, the stage of growth is relevant. Even if the tree appears to be fully grown, there is another stage, and when the tree is cut down in the previous stage, the seeds will not fall out.
I've been farming trees for a while now and I cannot confirm this. Trees only seem to have two states, the tiny saplings that you initially plant and the giant full-grown trees that they explode into once enough time has passed. The latter state appears to drop seeds normally (which is to say, not all the time, but for beech trees often enough to yield a surplus on average).
