Can someone clarify?

Now for context, I haven't really played since the caves update. Wanted to see how mistlands turned out before i spent forever on a map id need to replace soon anyway. I know there are patch notes but either im missing something, got a weird seed maybe, or im imagining things and id kinda like a second opinion about it :cozybethesda: So far in my current game I am firmly in bronze age and am preparing to go for iron but it was taking a while because i both wanted to find the merchant and for the life of me i could NOT find bees so i could actually make meads but i wanted both done before beating the elder and getting the key.

In the "Is my seed weird or have spawns/generation changed?" category:

-I had the hardest time finding any decently sized meadows outside of the starting continent, which was part of the difficulty in finding bees. What I could eventually find was usually meadows just large enough to host a draugr village, often right between 2 biomes id really rather not deal with this instant (plains and swamps were a common flanking combo). Ultimately i did get my bees, by finding a meadow large enough to host THREE draugr villages, and clearing one of the villages which had 3 bees on its own, so i finally have mead production started. What I instead found an absolute abundance of was black forests....and leviathans in my oceans for whatever reason. Even had this little guy so close to shore that you can see on my map that i count as being in black forest, but that black mass in the water behind me is a leviathan:

In the "did the rebalancing nerf or buff stuff cause i really cant tell sometimes?" category:

-well first of all yeah im bronze age but, i still cleared out a draugr village over bees...and didnt die while doing so despite there being 4 corpse piles that indeed spawned elites. Yeah i played smart, a lot of bow kiting and sniping the piles through holes in the buildings, but either i somehow got better while not playing or this got easier for that one.

-regular trolls seem to hit slightly harder than i remember and log trolls hit a bit softer. Not sure if thats actually the case but i could have sworn that my troll armor was a 2 shot for log and 3 shot for regular troll if i got hit faster than i was healing. now both seem to be 3 hit. Dunno if the armor was a bit different or the trolls changed or if i just misremembered but i swear they die easier to. I love troll armor so i prep fire arrows early and go troll hunting, i found myself abundantly overprepared this time just doing my old habits.

-i survived parking in a plains overnight without realizing it. During my epic quest for a meadows, i was skirting around the edges of a black forest when both night and fog hit so...i couldnt see a thing. I just parked my boat and stayed in it hoping i was far enough away from shore a troll didnt notice me cause i wasnt moving in those conditions. When sun rises i come to find out that the drift of the boat still going slightly because boats dont actually have brakes, had put me technically in plains but like 3 pixels away from the map reflecting that during the night. I had sat there all night, i wanna say 4 floors (2x2) worth of distance away from the shoreline and was oblivious to this until i saw lox eyes...and i lived....im either the luckiest player or deathsquito spawns changed a bit to.

Same as Rhapsody
I reed it all and had to skroll up thinking "what was the problem?"
This sounds like normal.

there is always valheim map generator website where you can input your seed and cross-reference it with your own map and see if some funny business is going on. If you do check out that site, try to not to spoil the locations of crypts/bees/merchants etc.. it's disabled by default

Its a bit more generalized, and partially asking if this was normal nowadays. Bees, and meadows in general, didnt used to be this rare but that could just be a result of my seed. Black forest didn't used to be so abundant, but again that could be the seed. Leviathans certainly weren't this common either (my first few games saw me spend at least an hour on finding them normally but this game i keep nearly crashing into them as they just pop into existence in the weirdest spots while im going full speed). Explored the central 1/3 of the map already (found the trader btw) and found 12 leviathans so far, yet not a single serpent. I Even managed to get some muddy scrap before getting into a crypt so I could even cook the dang thing now if i could find one! (which is part of why i do bother wasting iron on it so early, serpent is lovely food for swamp tier). It seems like the spawn rates of everything were slightly adjusted since I've been gone, or i just got a weird seed. Im not sure which so im asking if it is normal nowadays.

This part I actually did do, partly to finally find meadows at all, but as you mentioned i left the icons off except spawn. For the most part the map is accurate to what i have uncovered so far, but there have been a few notable differences to, and not just "oh this sandbar is slightly more connected than the generated map implied" more like "oh this entire island exists that the map didnt mention, small island, but still". Not sure if that's within the normal variations or not though. i know the generated map is usually very close but not always 100%. It was close enough to at least get me to a continent with a large meadows (the one with 3 draugr villages) and by chance, the black forest near that meadows is where my merchant ended up anyway, so now i have a base there since its the biggest meadow i found outside of start and it sits in a black forest bubble bordered by swamp, plains, AND mountain. It went from real weird spawn luck to amazing base potential, so that's nice.

it is tough to say without cracking into the game's code because even the "detailed" patch notes are laughably vague. I'm not sure why

That's part of why i was asking for others opinions to. I really didnt get much from the patch notes, but that could totally just be me not always getting tech stuff lol
