Root harnesk is amazing almost everywhere in the game, only place you shouldn't bring it is frost caves and Yagluth. Harnesk doesn't really protect from the new boss either, but it can still reduce damage from attacks by mobs that appear during the battle.

Course, my dude. I wouldn't have commented if it didn't help me haha. You'll also benefit from a little more movement speed and that helps in more ways than one! Resistance > raw armor at least for this stage of the game. It could out-scale eventually but we'll cross that bridge when more crafts come out!

beware those fire mages as well, of course. I was using a fire and a frost potion (sometimes both) depending on their staff when fighting them in normal armor.

My concern is that root has very, very low armor rating. I would find it odd that a little pierce resist would beat raw armor value with that much difference, but maybe it does (?).

it does benefit because the way damage is calculated and the other two parts of armor are still full strength. If you were wearing full root armor it would not count for as much. Basically cuts damage in half and then applies armor as long as its pierce.
