What's your favorite weapon type?
I've been enjoying the Iron Battleaxe because it swings low and works well for killing leeches safely, but I think my first love is the knife.

Porcupine is an awesome general purpose weapon. You also really should carry a bow. Draugr Fang is the current King of Bows but the Huntsman's Bow is pretty good too and it's quiet. After that, it's dealer's choice!
Recently I've been running with the Blackmetal Atgier. I've found it to be solid and I think it's the best weapon to use when hunting Lox. The Blackmetal Sword won't let you down.
For fun, everyone should try the Flesh Rippers. They are hilarious in the Meadows and Black Forests. Punting a Greydwarf off the side of a cliff never gets old, plus they don't slow you down when active. It's good to try and have a mix of damage types in your hot bar. Eight slots gives you access to most everything you need quickly: Shield, Sword, Atgier, Bow, Hammer, Axe, Pickax, and Hoe is how I have mine. The third slot I'll swap out for different things like a Porcupine or the Flesh Rippers depending on how I want to run.

All varieties of the Atgeir, my trusty abyssal dagger, silver sword.
For the few enemies that you absolutely have to kill with blunt damage, iron mace and Frostner.

Bow and crystal battle-ax, no shield is handling everything up to the plains, for me.

Don't quote me on this but in the current state of the game, I believe there's more critters susceptible to blunt damage than anything else. Ergo, maces for me.

I prefer Maces/Clubs after my last play through, so with that in mind:
1. Porcupine
2. Frostner
3. Iron Sledge because of the utility it offers.
With enough skill in Clubs, the Iron Sledge allows you to one-shot Wolves, so the "Hunted" event is MUCH less of a nuisance. The Atgeir's AoE probably also allows for the same thing, especially since it has availability in Black Metal, but I've not used them nearly enough to know.
You can also use the Iron Sledge (and Stagbreaker) to obtain Silver Ore early, unless this was patched out. There's huge risk involved in doing so, considering how dangerous the Mountain biome is at the time (especially if you go with Stagbreaker instead), but all it takes is one or two Silver nodes and you can make the Wolf set and/or Frostner way earlier than intended.
The downside to doing so, though, is that it will make Bonemass hilariously easy, and the rest of your Mountain adventure mostly easy also.. until you encounter Stone Golems, anyway.

Atgiers for sure, good single target damage as well as great CC against multiple enemies, and the large melee range allows kiting to be much easier. I do also want to like the other 2 handers, especially battleaxes, but as of now they just feel way too impractical, and the last time i checked, cost lots of stamina for a three hit combo that usually misses at the third hit because the first two knocked the enemy out of range, and the damage it deal doesn't feel that good either. I don't think they need a change or anything, but instead armour that compliments two handers so that they feel more smooth to use and powerful, but not too powerful. And as for the sledges, they're great, though i don't use them much.
Overall i absolutely would love more polearms added to the game, however i don't know what other polearms vikings used, and i don't know how accurate they want the game to be in terms of viking history/mythology. Since possible weapons in the future could be like Surtr's sword, which would be a greatsword in-game which may contradict viking history, but would be sick nevertheless to have in the game. As the whole surtling cores/ surtling enemies can be seen as foreshadowing for the Ashland's boss to be based on Surtr.

Porcupine. great looking and smacks everything. Piece/Blunt is king.
Wouldn't mind using some other weapons, however they are all just inferior due to either being dual weird, slow, high stam usage, low mobility, or generally just weak.

Early game with knives.
Such a tiny amount of stamina drain that you can fight endlessly. An entire pack of greydwarves stands no chance if you just go in swinging, and the overhead leaping strike is awesome.

Atgeir in particular, two-handed weapons in general. From iron onward I don't even make let alone carry a shield.
