Why did they lock us out from chat on updates i thought it was a great place to find out about issues other people where having. Now you got to scroll threw every post someone make just to patch information together. Funny my first post got deleted at 30 comments here come #2.

I've complained directly to Steam about the over-moderation in these forums. It's way too much. Someone needs to moderate the moderators.

Because if you look at past threads where it wasn't locked, the vast majority of comments were pointing out how slow development is and apparently they can't take the criticism.

If you're just looking to see what issues people might be having, why not take a look at the bug report forum where people post about the issues they are having?
There's a place for that. The comments section of the patch notes isn't it.

Gee just look around at other games update posts comments and you wouldn't be surprised.
80% of the comments on a PD2 update are dead game followed by crying about the end of paid DLC promise they actually made then broke.
Even though people understand it seems like someone will always want to complain . Comments on those update posts are basically throwaway comments anyway.
I'd say it is probably a trend we will see more of with other games. Those comments are pointless.
You have an issue with the update post in bugs. You just want to complain, no one is stopping you from making a discussion post about it or review. As long as you stay respectful there won't be an issue.
The devs even hang out in discord or something like that. Go there and talk to them.

The answer is no. Steam sub-forums are ran by the developers and occasionally global Valve mods will step in on moderation if said developers do nothing or abandon their forum. Unless the developers/moderators are breaking the general rules of Steam, they are in the clear to run their forums how they want. I've complained directly to Steam about the over-moderation in these forums. It's way too much. Someone needs to moderate the moderators.
It is kind of unreasonable to ask Valve to directly moderate tens of thousands of sub forums.
The issue is people whip themselves into a frenzy if left alone to fester and rot on the same discussion issue forever. Like stagnant water. I just got here but I've seen this song and dance elsewhere on many games over the years. Because if you look at past threads where it wasn't locked, the vast majority of comments were pointing out how slow development is and apparently they can't take the criticism.
Criticism is fine, but development has taken so long that some people (if left unchecked) will go beyond that. It's an escalating force of discontent that breeds toxicity as time passes. Either let it poison your entire audience (if you intend to abandon the game), or moderate it and avoid the community hurting itself.

Pretty sure this is it. A delayed update is no reason to be toxic to the devs. When you buy an early access game, you buy it as-is. Some people don't understand this. If I had to go out on a limb it's likely due to unruly fans that continue attempts to disrupt open discourse. Probably people posting the same thing they just posted despite moderation, ignoring forum rules.
Just guessing.

Because the vast majority of the comments are negative and upset about the development speed. Simple as.
