Cant dig any further

So i tried digging a tunnel for my boat through the forest for faster traveling but at some point i realized that i cannot dig any further in some places. So the value of how far u can dig is a fixed value like 5 blocks and if the height of terrain is 10 u can dig only to z=5 and from 5 to 0? is there a way to surrpass this limitation?

The only water in valheim that can change level is tar pits.

Pity they don't use this mechanic to add small ponds or lakes, say in the mountains to add some variety.

Be like having a map that actually shows the streams properly, would be nice if.

I am not sure but the limit is +/- 8m from initial terrain level ? It means you can dig 8m hole with pickaxe or raise up the dirt wall 8m height with hoe.
how many pickaxe strikes is 8m? i'm having some slight trouble "seeing the code" for this game and visualizing the "grid" that terrain blocks are on.

i think others already mentioned this but yea the mod is called heightmap unlimited. Requires some light setup, under an hour easy. Do everything manual is my advice.

Nope, water in valheim is at the same height globally. If you can dig down far enough (e.g. with the mod mentioned) you find water. The only water in valheim that can change level is tar pits.

No, there is now workaround. It only goes x deep below the level you start. You cannot remove a mountain, but you can cut a trench x deep over it, or shave the first 15 feet off the whole thing, but no deeper.

Unfortunately, because in the game is no fully polygonal terrain, tunnels are impossible

If you really want to do it, there is a way. A mod called Heightmap Unlimited Remake. It allows you to dig or raise the ground more than current limitation.

yea there is a base limit. This is the mod that lets you bypass that https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/359 . there are other mods and some light setup, if you're interested it should take less than an hour to start. Reccomend manually installing everything for valheim

Yeah I tried to do the same thing once. Making a canal from my boathouse to the ocean, everything was fine and then just before the end I came to a hill and I couldn't dig anymore. Really annoying that the depth is 'from surface' instead of 'from base depth'

Hmmm, just came across this issue while trying to recreate a medieval town

So the terrain is limited to 8m up/down from it's original height.
Another design flaw imho as this is bloody annoying

An no, I don't want to create a huge wall of earth to place those Trolls at bay, but was interested in getting an old town recreated so I could walk around it in 3D

I do hope someone continues with Better Continents so we can make recreated maps. see https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/446
