God forbid you actually have to do stuff to progress. Insane!

No but in all seriousness, it is a grind, but it's a survival/craft game so that should have been abundantly obvious. You buying a game that you're not into doesn't mean the game is boring. Means you didn't do enough research before buying.

Admittedly you need what is perceived as an excessive amount of both boar and deer hide in the beginning.
But, you're also beginning from zero. After you grind enough skins to make a small base and basic equipment to kill the first boss, it all just kinda works. You gather skins as you explore and suddenly you have more skins than you can use (and all other resources as well).

Your complaint is that you don't want progression, you need instant action so maybe Call of Duty or Battlefield is more up your alley. Survival games are clearly not.
