Vulkan
Why it's not running using Vulkan by default?
It gives a boost to the game, I got a higher FPS when playing using Vulkan.
Sadly, the option is only available if you run it from the Steam Library game, not from the shortcut on your desktop.
I know we can add -force-vulkan, but why not just let it run using Vulkan by default?

Because it's performance impact isn't universal and can make things worse on some hardware.
Vulkan made the game unplayable on my old rig because it didn't like my rtx 2070 for whatever reasons. Caused tons of graphical bugs.

I'm running an RTX 2070 and it seems to run better on Vulkan. Maybe it was fixed?

Vulkan might run better for some people, but the devs made the default renderer the more stable one for customer satisfaction reasons. People who are prepared to deal with potential bugs have the option to play at a better framerate.

Vulcan also increases my performance, i dislike having to click to use every time i play too, make it a setting in steam to load with vulcan please!

yeah I get artifacts, and eventual crashes with Vulcan. Only Vulkan . See the "whats your rig" thread for my specs.I got the artifacts at first, but I googled around and found a tweak in the files, the "effects 0" or something or other, that fixed it.

Yeah I just changed my setting around a bit and got no negative effects.

I dunno. I'm running an entirely new PC now with a 3080 and gave that one to a family member.

-force-vulkan is what I have. It isn't immediately obvious, but there is a way to confirm it's in vulkan, I just don't remember. Either way, you've got the command line correct so your good.

Not sure. I've used both, but I have settled on vulkan as well. It runs better for me as well, but maybe not for some? I do miss the full screen command with vulkan. Interested in knowledgeable responses, too...

Vulkan can make game crash for some in my case i have to add this to boot.config file to fix crashing in the valheim_data folder.
gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=0

The lack of true full screen without a command line, or specifically even with one on vulkan, is my only gripe with vulkan. Obviously the problem behind it must be fairly entrenched considering the devs haven't fixed this seemingly simple issue.
