Meadows challenge run (completed)
Got a new challenge run idea, kill all current bosses by only using equipment, food and building materials natively found in Meadows, boss drops and their relevant summoning items.
Therefore no boats only raft, no potions, no portals, no trader, no forge, only boar taming, only low tier foods, armour and weapons, and without using silly boss cheeses
ps. I have actually completed this challenge now, Yag vid page 5

You can. Just need a fire nearby. A fire that Moder cannot extinguish. So yes, it does require a bit of cheese.
And I really have no idea how you will survive Yagluth. Because arrows don't do jack to him, so it will probably take RL days to down him with flint arrows (the highest you can go) whereas he just needs to look at you and you're dead in a second.
Edit: Swamps will REALLY be a challenge just in deer skin. Forget about shields, so you either go pure HHH (triple health) to at least survive a hit, but then die quickly because you have no stamina left, or you go SSS (triple stamina) to be able to run away as quickly as possible, but have absolutely no health.
Pretty much bows only, as you can never get in close quarters combat, as any enemy starting with swamps will be able to kill you with one hit (at the most two). And that bow will be a crude bow. Because... no cheese! :D
If you are very young and still have reflexes you might be able to survive playing a rogue character who is constantly on the move. You need to master dodging to perfection to be able to do that.
Remember, that would be flint knives, unless you go with the much more preferable abyssal dagger.
I mean, I can sort-of survive in the plains with root armor, but you can't even get that, as it requires swamp materials. And I could only do that because I had access to swamp and mountain food.
That's a really tough one. :D
Eikthyr is a piece of cake.
Elder should be not much different from how you do it normally, instead of troll armor you still have deer. Instead of a fine bow, you have a crude bow. Fire arrows are the same. So, multiple bows in case one breaks, and LOTS of arrows.
Bonemass I can see, you need an elevated platform to avoid the poison and then shoot arrows in its face till your bow breaks.
Moder will be VERY tough, since it is really hard to avoid her ice blasts and you pretty much need to dig beneath her altar to put a fire there she can't extinguish. But it should be possible. Again, multiple crude bows are a must.
Yagluth? I have no eff'n clue on how to face this guy. No clue. ;)
Last edit: The main challenge are not the bosses, but to GET there. To gather the materials to spawn them, to survive the biomes they... live in, I suppose. THAT is the challenge.

I haven't killed any boss yet, but I guess that this challenge, as electricdawn implied, could be reworded as:
Summon Yagluth

i dont think youd be able to beat any bosses past Elder. The bosses HP regen is going to be too much for the wood club and basic ass arrows.

It is definitely the hardest challenge run I can think of so far. Fyi abyssal dagger isn't native to meadows, fine wood is native to meadows though, so breaking fine wood chairs in huts and shipwrecks will slowly give enough fine wood.
I think building will play a big role in this run. Digging under alters and clipping is I spose the cheesy stuff I think is blah. I know I draw some weird lines but it's mostly to add restrictions so more creative ideas to do stuff can surface, perseverance and adaptation y'know.
Also list of avail foods is neck, boar, deer, mushroom, raspberry, honey and fish

I wouldn't call that cheese, doesn't really make it easier to kill moder it just makes the environment survivable. I was thinking you'd have to build lots of fires all over but I might explore alot and see if I can find a moder summon close to a non freezing biome so I can lead her there for the fight. You can. Just need a fire nearby. A fire that Moder cannot extinguish. So yes, it does require a bit of cheese.
As for yagluth even fire arrows hurt him but in another challenge run using no potions and light armour found some more openings to hit him that I hadn't found before so it may still be possible to do some melee.

You can get core wood from the lean-to things with the rock circle. You can just deconstruct them. Make a finewood bow anyway. core wood seat for comfort

"Lean-to things with the rock circle?" Please explain. :D
BTW, there are usually no boat wrecks in meadows. And yes, there's some weird lines there. Finewood bow is ok, digging under Moder's altar is not. Clipping is no cheese, that's an outright exploit or cheat.
So, yeah. I still think that Yagluth will be impossible with arrows, since he's just going to outheal it. From my one time (granted) experience, he took almost no damage from frost arrows, so I wonder how far you will going to get with flint arrows.
Not sure how you will be doing melee, as you need to be extremely quick to avoid his nova. Let alone his fire breath and meteor shower. Maybe I'm just too old for this. ;)
One more thing that came to mind: You actually have mostly no use for boss items.
Antlers? Can't mine, except rocks.
Swamp key? Yes, that could see some limited use until you have all the bones.
Wishbone? No use, you can't mine.
Tears? No use, you can't do anything with late game stuff.
Thingymabob? Well, no use right now at all to begin with. :D

I think what GunsForBucks is referring to this structure which appears in the meadows and has a rock circle and a core wood foundation...

In the link above, search for WoodHouse3 or scroll about a 5th of the way down.

The lean to structures, you haven't seen them?
I've def seen shipwrecks in Meadows shores before.
That is correct the key will prob be the only boss item I can use for anything usefull so can actually progress and take on bonemass.
yagluth has an opening during the nova blast to do melee, he brings his hand down and the nova actually doesn't cover his opposite hand so you can get some good licks in during that whole attack animation.
The reason I don't want to dig under inderstuctable alters is to give myself a challenge and find new ways to do stuff. Hence "challenge" run. I don't see why this is such a hard concept. I mean games not finished, shouldnt us players be pushing the boundaries and seeking to do as much crazy stuff as possible to shove it in the devs face to make it better or harder?

Hey, don't sweat it! I'm just trying to understand your reasoning for why you allow one thing (finewood bow, NOT a Meadows item), and NOT allow digging under Moders altar (a cheese to be sure).
I would think that attacking Moder with deer leather and flint arrows (even if you would go for the cheese finewood bow, a TRUE challenge would be using the crude bow) is already challenge enough. Why would you want to freeze to death as well? ;)
Just having fun thinking this through.

Yes, but you usually can't harvest it. You need a bronze axe for that. Yes, you can get around it by using... wait for it... a CHEESE (log rolling), but you said, you don't want to use cheeses.
And so far I've never found a boat wreck in the meadows. Maybe I was just unlucky.
But, hey! It's your challenge and you design it anyway you want. Just wanting to give my input, since you posted it here. ;)

Never said I was going to log roll. Maybe I'll find a new way no ones thought of, plus there are chairs that give fine wood. Any meadows native stuff is usable. Finewood is found in Meadows in multiple forms.
If I can't get finewood then yeah I'll just use crude bow, I'm not really phased. I'll be doing melee for nearly everything except elder, well atleast try lol
So was thinking prob do yagluth as the second boss casue then I can use that forsaken power for bonemass
