Will we need to create a new world even if we haven't explored the certain biomes yet?

I know the Devs said that they recommend starting a new world. I recall them mentioning something about new additions to the plains biome. However, if I just started a new world and have yet to explore the plains and other biomes, will I need to start a new world to get the new update features/items or will they be procedurally generated in once I get closer to those areas? Hopefully this makes sense, thanks.

I thought so but just wanted to make sure. I recently started playing again and started a new world, but have yet to explore past the black forest near my starting area/island.

Any exploration by any player on that server/instance makes things set.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a procedurally generated world?

I wouldn't think so. I think the devs are just trying to renew the interest of anyone who's dropped off so they commit more hours to the game.
