Requirements for events...

So I had set up a small shack in the black forest, nothing huge, it looks similar in size and shape to the preset houses all over the meadows, when it came under attack. Swamp attack, draugr and skeletons (finally).

The only things in this house were a bed, and campfire. NO CRAFTING BENCH, no torches, no chest, nothing else. I was under the impression that a crafting bench was required for invasions to trigger, but this apparently is not the case.

So what are the conditions?

No bed. Hence why I said 2. Unless walls and roofs count as a point each.

He's saying the trigger is you. Meaning you are the requirement, along with where you are in the story. Seems a perfectly logical reply to me.

Now whether this is the full story is a different question. I know that in my game the trigger is you and you alone, with events being triggered and centred on you with zero structures close by, but I am using mods.

For the vanilla game, I vaguely recall you needed to be close to at least a couple of structures as well. Although exactly how many is unclear.

That kinda makes sense. Just would expect it to happen more when out in the world then. For instance, never been raided while mining (and ive done some long-ass excursions) even though a workbench and campfire was present (but no proper shelter). In this situation, he was there for maybe two mins or less, and it just happened, even when only a campfire and wall / roof was present.

That said, we do have a bridge somewhat nearby, but it should be out of radius. But, if a beam, or something is within radius, maybe that accounts for the three I was thinking the limit is?

Pretty sure Ive watched that. He was where I heard the 3 requirement I believe. Tough to say, as I end up listening to random videos about the game on Youtube while doing some of the monotony.

Again, would rather go off newer experiences, as the game is constantly changing. Much of the information from the release has a possiblity to be outdated and / or bugged due to other changes affecting it.

Hence, why asking for actual feedback, and not just a wiki or video. I know this my friend's post, but I'm sure he would be with me on this. Its awesome you guys are providing sources, and I've looked at them before (he may find them more useful for certain reference), but I'm asking about anomalies / experiences, in the vanilla game.

Lots of things count as structures including campfires and beds. And interestingly, a crafting bench doesn't count but it's an old wiki so an update may have adjusted things.

lol hence why Wiki-vid links are not to be trusted at times. Not until full-release, and even then...sometimes the wiki's for games are just plain horrible for outdated / false information. I find it better to talk to other players to see what's up.

Sure, I'm just providing evidence for how it should work. There are multiple things that count toward the ability for an event to trigger, you need to be within range of three, the range is quite large.

I'm fairly sure the logic for this hasn't changed but that's not to say it hasn't or there are no bugs surrounding it. The video should stand as the control in a science experiment and then everyone can measure their own experiences against it.

They clearly state they had a bed.

This is why a screenshot would help clear things up.

But what are the requirements? I heard it was just 3 player built structures. Which, in this case, would be campfire, walls and a roof. I was there, and there wasnt anything else aside what Sab said there was.

So either it only takes two structures (as I assume walls and roofs would both count as 1 , for shelter), or it was a bit of bug.

Question being, what are the requirements, and if it is 3 structures, is anyone else noticing event anomalies?

And another question, is it possible that, because there was a workbench there previous (deconstructed by player) was it still counting?

Sab's just asking for some ideas on whats going on. Lets have a chat about it and see if any other anomalies around these events have transpired.

Events, and their triggers are described here: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Events

Lots of things count as structures including campfires and beds. And interestingly, a crafting bench doesn't count but it's an old wiki so an update may have adjusted things.

I cant trust Wiki information for an EA game. They change the conditions and such all the time, and there is already outdated stuff on the wiki at present. Its why the discussion seems more relevant.

We should be talking like we are testing it, rather than expect all info from beta-testers and early players to still be relevant.
