Tar pits- manipulation and usage

I tried to make a tar moat around one of my forward bases, but when connected to my trench the pit drained. I got a slight tar effect and some puddles but not a full moat. Makes sense I guess and the tar lumps at the bottom of the pool were a nice plus, but is there a mod or a method that makes tar pits renewable/manipulable?

Agreed. Yes, I managed to fall into my chimney too and was very excited about it. Many an unrepeatable oath was made that day.
And true, you have to make a pretty tall tower to manage to murder yourself by falling off, so I can definitely see the tar traps as value-added. Bravo good sir.

true but i need more ways to kill myself in my own fort by accident. tripping into my own chimney from the second story of my castle or slipping off my battlements just isnt enough anymore

Pretty clever! Too bad it isnt implemented. Also, its kind of pointless in a way since a deep moat will stop all nonflying monsters anyways.

I hate tar blobs probably the most of all mobs. I would be too worried about spawns.

i don't know about mods, but i sort of expect that we'll see more ways to manipulate fluid mechanics like that, and reasons to do so.. they got this viscous liquid draining mechanic into the game very early in development, so there must be more stuff like it planned.. exactly like stuff for moats i think, and maybe water wheels, who knows
