Has the framerate improved since I last played in May?
The title pretty much asks exactly what I want to know. According to steam, I last played Valheim in May. I thought it was pretty fun, but my framerate would drop from a good 120 or so down to 10-15 when I was around player built structures, and my friends in the server were having similar issues. I want to play the game again, but it was kind of getting to the point of being intolerable. Has the game been optimized compared to how it was back then?

Not for everyone but some (me included) reported some nice gain in performance.

Performance will be largely based on your hardware, and how many modifications you've made in a given area, increasing the "active instance" count you can see with f2.
That being said, H&H has seen a significant performance increase for many due to optimizations.

I was able to get more stable framerate after the update. Just FYI, the update added two sliders for light/shadows settings, which may have effect on FPS. Also, at least for me, the update 'reset' my graphics settings, so you need to fiddle them, to get best experience.
