If you notice slowdown while playing try this.
Your gpu might be running too hot like mine was. I went into the BIOS and changed my case fans to DCU and pumped there speed up. I left the CPU fan where it was on smart setting.
The problem was the speed of the fans where based on the temp of the CPU, and since that was staying around 40-45c it meant that the GPU could get up into the 70c's without the fans kicking into a higher gear to bring it back down.
So in conclussion your slowdown might be, because of GPU heat throttleling like mine was.

Do you play with DirectX12 or Vulkan?
The reason I ask is because through the summer I played Valheim to allow my PC to cool down from playing high end, high requirement games.
I use Vulkan for Valheim.

Much easier to set up custom fan profiles. I dropped over 20 degrees by speeding up my GPU fans. Default factory settings are far too low.
