The first part I agree with, the second: Never ever evah! Sorry, too much of a loner. :)

1 for sure, and no map during play either, which makes finding the bosses challenging and finding the trader near impossible, but sometimes you get lucky.

In my current playthrough I'm looking for bonemass, and think I'm getting close. I found a great place for a base that is in meadows, with black forest, swamp, mountain, and plains all very close. I climbed the mountain and found the moder circle just up the hill from my temporary base!

Those are the moments that make walking around blind fun. Had I "peeked", I probably would have gone there sooner, but what would be the fun in that?

1 - multiple times. About to start up my second "Permadeath" attempt as well.

This take is so valuable, I am inclined to return to it. The old unknown, the adventure and frustration... but the chance the map/seed just plain sucks... hmm...

Tbh, I regret going 2 in my latest gameplay since the distances were far closer than expected. :)

I haven't gone 1 since early release, but tempted atm.

So much of the enjoyment of the game is exploration....and finding that awesome/perfect area to build a base, or that massive swamp, or massive Mtn....would be like reading the last chapter of a book before starting the book officially. But to each their own.

I check the seed in the world generator before starting to insure that it does indeed have all of the points of interest I'll be hunting for when the game starts. But I don't go back or use console to explore the map. My memory isn't that good anyway so I'll end up blundering around to find crypts or infested mines regardless.
