Is this mod head based only for direction or can you switch it to controller based. I tried the mod and it was head based - I only had 20 min to play (can I change the method) I actualy had to uninstall it to go back playing with the mouse and keys (took 5 min) (not ready to play mist with my bud till im used to it) I may reinstall if its possible to change directional controll. In VR I saw no options
Is there an option for this

Try Half Life Alyx. Official VR support for Valheim could be the one thing to make me get into VR.
Best gaming experience I ever had in my life. By far.
Every other VR game is pretty "mäh" compared to this.
But you need a good setup and a good headset. You need high end equipment to enjoy.
I find it hard to imagine that games that are not optimized for VR actually provide motivation for long.
For example I tried among others Minecraft VR. Yes and that had its charm and was impressive to watch/play. But after some days I went back to normal setup.
When the game is not optimized, you are simply fascinated to discover the game you love from a different perspective. When that's no longer the case, it's over - that's been my general experience.

Thanks for the feedback, I saw this video just recently and had to put it out there for other curious minds :)
In the video there is a link to the mod page, so I'll put it in this post for those with the right equipment to try out

Some of you may appreciate this little video of this mod
but it was surprisingly a decent video and i agree with most of what you say, im not huge into VR though but valheim is pretty much the perfect example to the reality of just how painfully bad the gaming industry is today and people will be compelled to play games like valheim without the disgusting gacha, limited time or straight up P2W microtransaction options despite not even being close to the average graphics of modern day.
people just simply want good gameplay without handholding by the developers, freedom to create their game worlds around them without being reminded by the developers of "nah man, youre having too much fun broski.. thats 10$ a month or you can kiss your storage cap and/or crafting innovations goodbye"
i dont have issues with motion sicknesses or anything like that but the shakyness and lacking responsiveness of vr just isnt where it needs to be to be compelling but once vr games start to provide proper sense of control of the ingame actions then id jump ship once in a while at least
valheim will definitely grow with a painful growth ache once they start observing the top used mods of them all and start integrating into the base game experience just like VR support but sadly they seem to be a bit too naive for their own good and only seem to be concerned with making something unique from their own imaginations as weve seen with killing the zerg and resorting to becoming fire marines

https://www.vorpx.com/ will allow you to play Valheim UNmodded for those who need it, and there are many *MANY* other non-VR games that can be made VR with VorpX. This may be your only answer if you wish to play on an UNmodded server with your friends, but as options go this is a fine one. :)

I have it, and it is not really handy. It just slices your view in 2(different cameras, but still), so you can hook it up your VR. will allow you to play Valheim UNmodded for those who need it, and there are many *MANY* other non-VR games that can be made VR with VorpX. It won't provide locomotion or hand gesture control(not in a way it might be actually useful, anyway).
If you have an old game that has 0 chance to become VR - then yeah. That is basically your only chance to see your favourite world in VR.

Yup, there are mappings for hand gestures, and unless you find a good profile *YOU* have to set that up, and maybe share the profile YOU worked on for others to enjoy. To avoid punching my wife or stepping on the house-cat, and ALSO because I lose keystrokes I'm already familiar with, I skip controllers and just go for keyboard play with the VR.
I'd say there's zero chance for this to go VR. Gameplay is made without VR in mind, and VR is a comparatively tiny audience. There's the mod too for those who don't want to pay for VorpX, but if you are doing lots of unsupported games AND have VR, VorpX might be a useful part of the tool-kit to have on hand.

Many games can be converted into VR, but there are usually 2 problems: Yup, there are mappings for hand gestures, and unless you find a good profile *YOU* have to set that up, and maybe share the profile YOU worked on for others to enjoy. 1) game's default flow, that might cause nausea. Usually, inability to use teleporting without damaging storytelling, or having to endure long and fast runs/chases/drives
2) game's engine. You might add full VR control for users, but that won't help the unoptimized nature of the game engines.

Hmmm.. The last time I've checked, VR was just for the camera control. Now you actually use your hands, and not the joysticks on the controller? Now that is a good mod. I wonder if it is multiplayer, crossplatform-compatible

Don't kill options. Promote actual choice with all available facts.
There's no reason at all to say to people, "So you play on no-mod servers? Sucks to be you! Go play with yourself if you want VR!" What's the sense in that?
