Best to Worst Weapons? (Hearts and Home)
Whats currently the best weapons to use in valheim? I think Blunt Weapons and Bows are still the best weapons to use, Bows have been nerfed but even then it doesn't seem to change much. I don't think they need to be nerfed but i think there should be enemies that resist blunt and bows are just better if not only ranged option (if you don't count the spear).
Toolaxe is arguably the third best weapon and that's usually for being both a tool and a weapon and even though it does less dps than the sword, you can get wood with this thing and doesn't seem to waste slot which is handy on early to late where its debatably either the black metal sword or axe. Problem is that its a slash weapon which no enemy is weak to but its handy most of the game due to being able to cut wood. As for battleaxes well swords are slightly better.
Sword is really good on late game especially against the late boss and maybe the fuling village but the problem is that its worthless outside in plains biome due to doing slash damage which no enemy is weak to. Maybe they should add spiders to the mistlands where there weak to slash or make slimes or other enemies with flesh weak to it since it could at least become reliable.
As for knife and polearm, there usually much like the sword where its good in late game, knife is really good against loxes while the polearm can cut through the barley and flax (for farms) while also being handy for the crowds.
As for the worst weapons well if you don't count the torch or the pickaxe well the worst is the spear and its outclassed by every weapon in the game. It has same range as a knife despite the fact that the spear was known for its longer melee range while using it as a ranged weapon kinda seems outclassed by the bow. I think Spear needs the longer range to make it any good and also make it slightly faster to attack than the polearm since the polearm has the AOE attack.
BTW this is single player experience only and might be different in the future. You might have different opinions than mine. I also haven't touched on the bomb thing but i'm not sure if its used much. Tell me what weapons you think are the best to worst.

Spear is great at early game, i use it for hunting deers or boars. I have some issues with my mouse that it double clicks, so i just use the spear to hunt.

Indeed the spear could use a buff. The primary attack has a range same as the knife and a smaller hit box and lacks the 3 hit combo that all other melee weapons except the big hammers have (where the third hit deals double damage so you get 4 hits worth of damage in 3 hits).
So its main use is for hunting in the meadows. Though is a better weapon for Eikthyr than the axe as the axe is too slow to get a 3 hit combo between the boss' attacks so geting 3 jabs from the spear is better. Other than that you can use spears for killing trolls in melee as they are weak to pierce damage but don't forget to take a step forward after parrying them before attacking becasue you will get knocked back a little.
And in the Plains you can use a Fang spear for killing Lox until you get your hands on the Porcupine.
That's about it.

Big 2h Axe is good for chopping multiple trees at once because it has no multi target penalty and higher range. So naturally it's also good to kill groups of enemies faster.
The fast stun move could also be good vs wolves.
Spear is really bad indeed.
The only thing spear does somewhat well is chasing deer, because you can throw and pick up the spear again on the run unlike the bow that you need to draw.

Bows will be the best until we get magic (like fireballs) or a machine gun
The axe has been nerved so far i see that, but since i made a 3 month long break my memory is maybe flawed

Yeah i don't know if the tool axe was nerfed but i'm not sure if it suffers from similar problems like in minecraft or other survival games where tool axe is just reliable tool/weapon than the sword is.. It just depends since i haven't played any survival games outside Valheim and Minecraft.

In my memory the Axe was a bit weaker than Swords and clubs, but not so much that you really needed a real weapon. Now it feels much weaker compared to the rest.
But thats only a feeling based on 3+ Months old memorys

Atgeir is pretty solid now (not like it wasn't before).
The blackmetal one can now parry loxes, 0* fulings and berserkers. I can pretty much one-shot a fuling with a single jab after a parry. Or double jabs w/o parry because the first will almost always cause a stagger.
The longer range could also be useful against fuling spear throwers since you can't parry them anymore for an opening attack.

Unfortunately they did the patch notes for the weapon re-balancing in the most aggravating way possible by not listing any of the actual number changes they did to the weapons, which is a completely mind boggling thing to do.
Spear primary attack can actually pump out a lot of damage during a stagger, but the alt attack is complete and utter garbage holding it back. Damage for THROWING your weapon out of your inventory + having to go retrieve it/risk losing it based on terrain is simply not worth it; if it auto returned after 6-8 sec and the weapon range being 2M instead of 1.8M it'd be fine.
