My artist side tries to experience the original vision before I modify things, but I have to agree, the mist looks annoying and I would be willing to mod it out if that is the case, but I haven't gotten there yet on our new playthrough.

As long as the artist gets to produce their vision, then I see no problems with other people altering it to better fit their enjoyment. After all, this is enjoyment.



And technically, the word "cheating" does apply to the "rules of the game world" when one mods the game.

But let's not get stupid here.........just because someone enjoys different experiences and can obtain that legally, without hurting anyone, through modding their video game, does not suggest, in any way, that such a person is going to "cheat" or hurt people in the real world.

It's not like I go around killing boars on my way to work and show up with my deer hide cape and ax.

But I'm surely going to cheat my boss and work mates because I modded a video game?

2 things come to mind here.... Portals and outposts

without ANY cheats, it's simple enough to actually carry portal parts with you, any time you go out to explore, especially far away from home or across ocean etc, and simply set a portal BEFORE you head into dangerous area.... No 40 minute run/sail to get your gear back...

As Mining is concerned, portals again, can save the day, by digging down under and into a copper node and setting up an outpost for smelting ores and build a forge to craft the ore into tools/ weapons and gear, and of course place a portal, fire, even a bed, and also a smelter, coal kiln, forge etc... Carrying resources across the map is the hard way to do it.

Thinking outside the box and using the tools which the devs gave us, it's quite easy to use portals and outposts to get the job done without needing to cheat, or spending HOURS running back and forth... just saying

You can't really find a mod/cheat for content that's not officially released yet. And either way, "cheating" in Valheim is about as pointless as "Cheating" in Minecraft. The premise of these Build/Survival games is so simple, you seriously CAN'T lose.
Sure, you can die, but its not permanent, and you resurrect at your bed.
Sure, you drop your stuff when you die, but you can get it back. It doesn't de-spawn.
Sure, you may have to rebuild some things, but resources are everywhere.
If you can't enjoy the game for its challenge, design, and overall experience without having to cheat to make it an easy, boring sandbox, then maybe its not the game that "sucks donkey honks"?

I'm not looking to cheat for cheating's sake but I'm visually impaired and the way the mist currently is I won't be able to play in the mistlands biome without something that increases visibility.

I turn cheats on to improve QOL features. I am not dragging that stupid cart around and taking several hours of real life time just to make a run for ore.

I just go play something else. In SP all that matters is that I enjoy the game I bought. And that means fixing the godawful gameplay decisions the devs made. It's a long list. Being able to see is just one tiny bit of it. The fact that modders have made fixes for all the stuff means I'm hardly alone in my assessment.

You could try and make mods to fix what you think the Devs did wrong.
I myself make mods to do the very same thing. Within limits of the modding tools.

Not everyone is gonna have the same view of the game like the Devs. Change it to how you think fits your gameplay style better.
Including the use of cheats.

See thats why opinions are like trashcans. Secondly its very clearly obvious you cannot control yourself with outburts like this.

I'm not bashing ya though, however i must state that if the game sucks so bad why are you even commenting talking about "i gotta cheat" either go play a different game or learn and explore it yourself. Secondly, any stealth game or anything like that would also have immense darkness, don't be mad cause they figured out a way to not use "Super darkness" that most games use so someone can simply turn up the brightness.

Here's an example. Skyrim, in that game if you set your display contrast and brightness correctly, you shouldn't be able to see nothing in a cave without a torch but people defo modify the brightness and what not.

Also, if you watched it on youtube then you would know there's ways to clear the mist :3

-Secondly, if you ever been to a swamp in real life, and you don't leave markers and its not the swamp of florida, you're probably gonna get rekt irl via alligators and MIST. Fog, everything. Not a good thing. In other true places that reflect climate and landscaping on earth like the mistlands, there is more mist irl than there and this is a video game.

Also, we should be happy, in the mountains all it does is snow, and then snow super hard. but in real life, the snow would be so misty and powdery on a serious storm visibility would = Zero.

Chances are you've been in fog far worse than the mist lands while traveling in a vehicle and i bet you had "Fog lights." :3 either or my dude, at least try it before your'e like "I CAN"T CONTROL MY URGE TO INPUT COMANDO DEV MODE!"

Edited: i will make mention, i get wrecked in the mistlands when not paying attention. Also, stealth is freaking magical at level 50+ but.... in the mistlands i recommend at least 70 because i believe thats like the go to number imho due to the other biomes not finished yet. As you travel to different biomes having higher skills help. Not just gear.

You also have those epic people that have like 100 sneak or 100 skills and that is going to make life easier.

IMHO rank swim and sneak.

Edited second time: Modders didn't fix anything. They modified the game to their liking. Not how the dev's made it. :3 thats why its called "Modding" which means 'Modifying the game" or 'Change the game from its original design plan and or intention."

Thankfully skilled modders seem to understand everything I dislike about the game and handle it. I was just here asking if anyone had it handled yet.

check the nexus once mistlands is released. modders normally dont release mods for public test versions of a game. will most likely be a mod for this on day one or close to it. you cant really cheat in a game like this though as it is not competitive, mod till it is what you personally prefer without shame.
