I see no problem with it.
Walk around and see where fishes are, drop bait [] and wait for 'blub' from water and click RMB. I farm stack in 10 min or so and good for a day. Meadows is fine for it

Maybe chow some cheap stamina food too. Reeling in the fishies takes stamina after all.

Nothing broken about it. You probably are either using low-quality food or not clicking when the fish bite to actually hook them. Or you're fishing at a spot that doesn't have fish.

Could be easyer, but in the end i saw no problem made 12 Fish in ? a 2/3 day

Yeah I bought the fishing rod and some bait and had trouble catching fish myself, even wth decent stamina foods. Maybe I need to practice more or does anyone have advice to make it easier?

Eat best stamina food you have.
Do not cast out far at all, just short casts so you can reel them in easier.

The other option is to not fish. It isn't really fun.

Make sure you can see fish in the area. Don't cast so far out that you run out of stamina before reeling them in. Only good use of a raft is as a fishing platform.

I've found there's only about 3 fish in a particular spot that will bite. After you catch those, move a few meters down the shore and cast again.

1. BEST tip: Make sure you are in an area in which you can see a small school of fish. Don't bother fishing in open ocean. I've found inlets, shallow beaches and rivers to be the best fishing spots.

2. Stamina foods are needed.

3. Cast out but bring the line in within 10-15 metres then wait.

4. Watch close for the dip on the end of the rod and immediately start reeling in. Your stamina won't regenerate if you stop reeling, so it's not worth "resting" while you have a fish on the line, hence only casting out a short distance.

Have to agree there seem to be some changes with the difficulty caught only fish one in a day. Used to catch lots .
Maybe the worms smell of the chest they've been sitting in :D

Best trick i've used so far was hopping in a Karve. But it isn't as simple as fishing off the boat:
1. Sail up to a school of Fish
2. Cast the line gently, 5-10m is good enough.
3. Hop in the Rudder seat and start paddling backwards and turn as hard as you can. Thankfully it's possible to use the Rudder and a Fishing rod at the same time.
4. Keep doing circles, or keep turning as much as you can while paddling backwards, eventually fish will take notice of your bait.
5. Once the fish is on the line, sail into the fish while reeling in, and the fish will jump right into your hands with very little Stamina drained.

Once you get this trick down you can get stacks of fish in a day.

Been I while since I played but yeah. Stick to fishing in meadows biomes and after a while of fishing you won't see any more so move to a new place where you see fish and deplete that spot. Eventually the old spots should get replenished. And you will want those fish later on for better recipes (Unless H&H nerfed that idk)

I mean maybe? The implementation on how to get into fishing was just so lame I didn't bother with it even in the base game.

Consequently anyone know if anyone implemented a mod with recipes to craft the fishing pole and gather/harvest bait?

Maybe something with different tiers of pole based on the various wood types ext? Gonna have to remember to check for something like that when I swing back through the nexus.
