People in 7 days to die for the last 8 years have wanted one thing or another nerfed and it never happened.

Same for the wild animals in SCUM

When you tell a game dev to " nerf " something they know its perfect and right where it needs to be.

Step 1 block
Step 2 jump on them
Step 3 Believe you can fly

They only 1-shot you if you're not supposed to be there. With appropriate armor and food, you'd likely be in the area with 150+ health and they only hit for ~20-30 damage. Pretty far from 1-shot, and very easy to block and retaliate. Also, when they move to attack you, they fly in a straight line, which is the perfect time to shoot them or line up a melee strike.

Good gear n foods !! go quietly..listen n look. bow n arrows if not aggro'd or shield parry n sword if you disturbed em. And yes they persist.. so u have three options.. 1: try a nudie run. funny but not safe. 2: stealth in with bow n arrow (not straight away..go farm something for a bit) or 3: make two sets of gear as you go.. which brings you back to start of my answer...

I sense that you have, unfortunately, run a bit too close to the plains biome before conquering the mountain. If you have a finewood bow or better you can shoot the mosquitoes camping your tombstone from a distance then run in and get your stuff. Just beware of the little green men. They are just as, if not more, dangerous than the deathsquito.

They do little to no damage when blocked with a previous zone's max upgraded shield. Once blocked they hover just long enough to one shot them with the previous zone's weapon.
If they were slower than your boat, they would not be very difficult, or if you could just outrun them on foot, why not ask for that?

They are not that bad -- you may even come to love them. The learning curve is rough and I get it, most of us got whacked by one or had our boat sunk by one during the learning process.

Why love them?
- they are easy to kill, very low armor and health, shield&hit is easy, shoot them is easy if not aggroed yet.
- they drop a very useful item, I can't get enough
- they kill everything on boarder zones, leaving loot for you by the chest full
- they make more noise than just about anything else, so its hard to not know one is near
- its rare to get more than 2 at once and they don't coordinate.

if these are triggering you, the tar babies deeper in are going to be well fed.

Just don't be bad?

My personal favourite is the Root Harnesk since its ability by itself cuts the damage of piercing attacks (including Deathsquito attacks) in HALF. The remaining damage is lowered by armor. Filling the other slots with Wolf Armor will result in taking about 10 (or even less) damage from a Deathsquito sting if unblocked. Give it a try :)

So.. What armor and food did you have, and why did you not block?

Deathsquitos are balanced. You can one shot them with any decent weapon. Try a bow some time.

You can one shot them too :)
Just use your bow more to raise skill and it will become a kind of an SMG^^

I once arrived to a swamp that bordered plains, accidentally woke up abomination which then aggroed on a goblin in the plains. Goblins killed abomination, so I had to go to the plains to get the loot from it. There were 2 deathsquitos, so I just killed them with my lvl 2 bow (fully upgraded). But I guess they would one-shot if they could hit me, I only had bronze armour at the time. So just shoot them before they come close to you, and/or get better armour and food.

all you have to do is block or attack, they'll die in 1 hit. They won't kill you if you have mountain grade armor and food (which you should have before touching plains)

Possibly because level of wind varies in the game? It's not a motorized boat.

Deathsquitos are easily noticeable because of their noise.
They can be one shot killed even with fists (maybe not with a very low unarmed skill), if you learn the timing you can hit them just before they reach you.
If they one shot you then you are not supposed to be in the plains and it is your fault. They do like 20 damage with max level wolf armor and even less with root chestplate.

Deathsquitos already got nerfed in the past and they are good as they are, not too difficult for the biome they appear in.
