If anyone goes off he edge of the map, they had to choose to. I've spent many hours in those waters, and you don't just get sucked over unsuspecting. Once you see it, it's pretty obvious what's going to happen if you get too close.

So, i'll save everyone the suspense. You basically hit a point that is like a black hole, and get sucked through it, and die. A corpse marker appears, but you can not retrieve it because it's too far down the black hole. Totally trippy!!! Anyway, Valheim is flat.

one thing i noticed... all the water falls off on all sides. but... where does all the water come from?

I've built a few piers as close as I could get to the edge, but you can't get all that close. It always looks like you're just about there, but then it stretches out farther. I did swim over the edge a couple of times, which was fun, but I haven't tried sailing over the edge yet.

The world is round. I have known this since I was very young.

No need. The world of Valheim is a disc and the oceans flow off the edge of it in what turns out to be a very strong current..

You know very well that it doesn't end well for anyone who does that... It's a suicide run where the boat / cargo / player(s), and all their gear gets pulled over the edge and that means death and loss of all that gear... The only way to get any of it back is to cheat.

Should be a PSA to NOT go there.

Zoom all the way out in the map screen. You can tell just by looking.
