Looking for early game fireplace/chimney examples.

Most people tend to develop an early game build style that is, for them, efficient and workable and then stick with that same method for most play-throughs.

We all tend to be creatures of habit.

So I am looking for some early game (pre first boss especially, but up to second boss) fireplace/fire-pit designs and chimney/roof exhaust builds to change by habits a bit.

I am sure there will be some unique takes out there so post them please.

I am curious if anyone of the 'tall building' crafters have an idea of just how many blocks (meaning a full sized wall piece) high you need to go to make a roof vent (non chimney) work.

@GunsforBucks Interesting build approach. Any inside pics?

In this one the fire was a bit high so I had to spin some roof parts. If you get the fire on the floor level venting isn't needed.

Think this is the outside of this one.

@Happy Do you recall how tall, in blocks, you needed to go so the smoke just dissipated over time?

You could also scroll at all the build pictures at the top of the forum.

sounds like what i usually do.. a single piece of 45deg roof corner can usually cover a campfire and direct the smoke enough for you.. two pieces stuck together make a nice hood big enough to handle a pair of them..

Fire in middle.
full upright, then half upright, steep roofing two high
should be tall enough not to need a chimney at all.
edit if it still does need venting just rotate one of the roof parts to cover over but be open

You can have a fire outside your house next to the wall where you sleep and it works for those just starting out.

I typically do a 2 wide firepit at the back of the longhouse A-frame. I exhaust the fires out the rear instead of the top and put a wall/fireplace mantle in front to keep smoke out from house and to hang spice rack.

I'd go for a higher ceiling on a larger built structure rather than a chimney on a smaller house. Or both a high ceiling & a lowered ''recessed'' fire pit to match. I typically build medium to larger structures as I find it easier to have more storage & vent smoke easier, usually.

When you have a roof that is high up past a certain point, you don't need to put a chimney, as the smoke seems to just raise up to a certain point, linger, & dissipate. Where as inside a smaller, lower roofed structure, you would need a chimney to let the smoke vent...

If I remember I'll chuck some screenshots up later so you can see what it might look like to give you an idea.

Big room, no chimney is easiest.

Put two or one and a half wood walls over your fire pit, then put one height poles on top of it, crowning it with a roof.

Done.
