Interestingly enough, there is an inaccessible desert biome in the game currently.

Also, the viking trade network extended as far as Constantinople and the black sea, and there's even records indicating that viking merchants reached as far as Baghdad via a route through modern day Russian to the Caspian Sea. So, it's not like deserts were completely unknown to them.
This! I personally see the plains as a hot-summer Mediterranean region, or at least with the appearance of it. And the Vikings, or at least the ones who traded, definitely would have been familiar with the climate. I live in a hot-summer Mediterranean climate (the tiny little sliver of it in California), and the plains definitely remind me of our summers; dry, dead grass, very few flowers, bare patches of sun-scorched dirt, and a lot of shrubs.
Of course I'm not opposed to a survival-accessible desert biome, quite the opposite rather! Just as long as we get some gorgeous armour and amazing music to match the region.

+1 to desert. Would be very... eh... hot to have that. Well, pretty cool, actually cold at night. :)

A desert is a place that has very little rain, Antarctica is a desert, therefore the far north could be a desert already.

Its called "Plains"?
Deserts are plains but not all plains are deserts. The plains in Valheim are obviously not a desert.
Although if your graphics are turned down enough, maybe it looks more barren without grass and stuff.
(edit: Before someone gets pedantic, I would like to state that "all deserts are plains" may not accurately describe all parts of all deserts, which may contain mesas, mountains, oasis, etc)

Yeah......because the Vikings have crossed a lot of deserts and the Mjölnir was forged from sand.

Valheim itself doesn't exist in Norse mythology, I dunno why people pretend to care about accuracy to irl Vikings or their mythos

But iut is understandable if the game is based around the norse mythology, you want to have AT LEAST some accuracy or resemblance to it.
I personally don't care. But i can clearly see and understand if someone does.
Imagine making a game centered around eunuchs and having a map based in the russian tundra.

Russians were into castration for awhile, that would actually be more realistic.

I'm really curious what the gameplay would be like though.
"Ok so here's the plot: your testicles have been removed by the Russian Orthodox Church... and you're cold."

Oh yes definitely. Perhaps the boss for this biome would geyser up and dive onto players, then burrow into the sand. Then release smaller versions of itself all over the place to grab onto players and drag them downwards like the behaviour or quicksand.
