It's a giant fort built over top of a stone henge + a pine tree that I turned into a look out point. I'll eventually add a portal up top and then get rid of the scaffolding as it does look rather ugly ;)

You can also build a treehouse in the swamp. Some swamp trees are indestructible.

I suppose you should be able to use the great Plains pillars for some tall structures too. I don't think I've seen any such builds yet though.

Soon you'll get hold of a stonecutter, which you can use to make stone constructions. It's great for making castles.

You need a lot of iron to make those iron wood poles though, blocks are big in the game so you need a lot of space to make a realish castle. Also RIP FPS.

I personally prefer to make smaller wooden buildings that are more spread out, also saves your FPS a bit.

I always make things in a lower scale, like house-sized castles and three meter tall walls for protection. Don't forget the moats, too!

Building is really fun. I intend on making a palace someday, perhaps a hall.

Congrats. Now add basements for storage. It is amazing how much extra space you can make with a basement because the "Walls" are all considered foundation.

I utilized a stone henge and built my base on top of it eventually extending downwards to the ground with walls / doors resulting in a fairly large hall. Planted a pine just outside which I used to make a large look out tower with a maypole and a nice bench at the top with some queens jam residing on top of a nearby stool. Fantastic view.
