Literally kill it with fire.

I hate those things, they're like trolls but even more annoying since it's harder to kite in the swamp and it has a ludicrous number of HP. If one appears I usually just go somewhere else. Or in my last game I literally just quit the game out of annoyance. Dumbest, worst addition to the game.

True that you will not have a black metal sword first time entering the swamp. But OP question was how fast you can kill it.

Parry and Axe worked pretty well if i remember correctly

- Fire arrows and kite it to fire traps you set up. Though not necessarily a hard boss, It is one of the most terrifying looking and sounding monsters I have seen. (Imagine an 'Ent' going crazy and trying to get revenge for destroying his/her family!). Its fairly useful to kite it towards troll, greydwarfs and draughr strrongpoints as it will attack anything in its path. When I first saw it in an older version it was spawning around a swamp tree and didnt seem to want to get down. (I kept my distance) and would run for it if looked like it got agro as I didnt want it to wreck a nearby outpost I had just finished.

Their strikes are pretty easy to step away from. Get in some ax hits after they whiff, and they'll go down without much trouble. Just remember to keep your eyes on them. Let yourself get twisted around, and you'll get squished.

That a decent combo. You definitely want to use a sword or axe and if you can mix in fire that's good. I don't think I'd bother with fire arrows. Definitely don't bother with spears, atgiers or any type of club if you have the choice. The attacks are pretty easy to time. If you can't block, then dodge. If your skills are on the low end it might be useful to bring along the mats for a Bonfire if there are no Fire Geysers. That means carrying an extra 55 weight (bonfire + workbench) tho. Hopefully you've found Haldor by then and bought yourself a Meginjord.

It can take awhile with bronze equipment. A huntsman bow (42 piercing) with fire arrows (11 pierce +22 fire DOT). The abomination has 800 health is 75% resistant to piercing but takes 1.5 times damage from fire. Each fire arrow would then inflict 13 damage from piercing and 33 damage from fire and it would take 18 fire arrows to kill one.

With bronze gear its hard to tank an abomination (but you could dodge and swing) and the torch would be fast but the DOT doesn't stack. A bronze mace will do 17.5 damage per swing with resistances figured in so it would take 46 whacks to kill one with that.

You can get enough iron from one crypt to craft enough iron gear to survive the swamp and 2 or 3 more good ones will give you all most all pieces of the iron armor fully upgraded. This will happen long before you can kill enough abominations to complete a fully upgraded Root set.

I kite the tree thing over the flame that shoots out of the ground. If you can parry the attack, they take even more damage. I was trying to ignore one by a flame when I noticed it died really fast.

I don't know like less than 10 seconds , parry with a black metal shield and balckmetal dagger it like a mad man and maybe parry it one more time etc

Takes me about 1 second. Thrust attack with a Blackmetal Sword while it's getting up. One and done.

I kill them with bonfires. Never timed it but fire takes them down pretty quick.
