What did your 'first ever' starter base look like?

Just started the game recently, here's my 'first ever' starter base.

Since then I've established a presence in the 'Black Forest' biome (base pictured below) and am close to getting my tier three workbench upgrade via the tanning rack. My first encounter with one of the giant trolls was memorable and quite scary. I built the outer walls too close to the main structure, which allowed one of his massive swings to almost collapse several of my home's support beams. Thinking fast, I rushed out of the base and led him away from the area. Overall I'm having tons of fun, the game is great!

Ive lost the screenshots but I had no idea about work station upgrades at that time. So my first home was very small and I ended up shoving the workbench upgrades up the wall on shelves or in a corner clipped to death to get them to fit. It was a lost cause within a few days of completion, and it was totally unsuited for raids (zero protection, just right there in the middle of the meadows). I had cut a long road to the forest to haul copper back home, but the cart never panned out. I had room for exactly 1 portal in the house. All in all, I abandoned it and that whole world (no iron to be found) after exploring 3 swamps and coming up empty.

my first ever starter base was an abandoned shed about 2 wide and 3 long with bees and a hole in the roof and a fireplace outside. ;-)

Looks great! Where do you get the beams that look like logs? My menu just has the very square looking beams.

I like it. I haven't come across a river yet. Great idea to build alongside one. One less direction to have to defend.

Haha, it's way better than my first bases. Looks good! The only thing I might suggest, that many others may as well, is to dig a moat around your fencing when you're able to. That way it'll keep melee creatures away from the wall, and lower the need to repair them in the event of a raid. (In case you didn't know, your base can be raided at any time by various creatures.)

I don't even build advanced enough to warrant support beams in my current game's main base. Just a floor, walls, some windows, a chimney-type structure for the food racks to not suffocate me, and a second floor with a roof over it.

Honestly, as long as I've had the game and as long as I've played, I never knew support beams were even warranted in some situations until just the other day when I discovered what the coloration of tiles meant when building.

Needless to say, I eventually intend to massively overhaul my main base to make room for a grand hall with a separate area for the crafting stations.. so I'm going to have to learn how to build all over again after razing the land of any and all trees for the wood it'll require.

I have 2 houses side by side. With beams for support where they meet so its one big living space. The larger house used both 36 and 45 degree roofing. Nothing fancy yet, but spacious and workable.

Have a trench all the way around and just starting on the fencing. These enclose my boar pens and bee hives. With a bit a free space for more later. I plane on hang out in the meadow for a good while.

Where I am standing was one of the original small shelters scattered throughout the 1st area. First I just extending it but from its long side. Its long side then became the short side. Added 2nd house a couple weeks later. May be adding a basement cause I just got my pick axe.

When I first started using the hoe, didn't quite know how to get an area completely flat. Thats why I didn't add the addition from the beginning. Now I know how to get the ground all flat, which doesn't limit me to areas where the villages are.

I no longer had the screenshot, but I remembered I had shared it on Discord, so I retrieved it from there.

When this was taken, I didn't know smelters and kilns do not need roofs. :lunar2019grinningpig:

(Quality really bad because it's a .jpg that's been saved multiple times. Also, my draw distance was not at max back then.)

I appreciate the effort you went through in retrieving it! I enjoy seeing the 'first base' which players created when they were still learning the game (as I am now). Also offtopic: Are you the 'Gwent forum moderator' Draconifors? If so, fancy meeting you here!
