I'm a little unclear on what the mod does.
Does it literally 'reset' the terrain back to how it was at the start? Or just make the terrain appear natural?

Is there a mod that just makes it appear natural?

Yes it completely resets the terrain with one click from any height.

When using the level function with the hoe, Click=Level to the height of your feet. Shift+Click=level to the height of the center of the target.
It can only increase or decrease so much, at which point a pickaxe is needed or raising ground function with the hoe.

You can make it look natural again with the various cultivator options. Grass, lillies on shallow water, natural texture on stone walls etc.

Oh wow there's a shift click? I'm 200 hrs in and I had no idea. Does that work with the cultivator's cultivate function?

No the cultivator only changes the used textures not the actual shape. One of the best uses for shift click can be deepening canals/moats as you can stand on a bank, point at the lowest part, and shift click, gradually moving the target around to spread the depth.

Keep in mind the hoe levels based on your characters standing position. So whatever level your standing at the hoe will attempt to level the ground to that level.

I have the best luck leveling from the bottom up. It is helpful to level the same spot multiple times. When using a pickaxe.. imagine a little grid. Your pickaxe will lower a 2x2 spot of tiny squares.
