Bed & Campfire Discrepancy
I just got done building a rather cool split-level beginning structure. I placed a bed on the upper floor and I have standing torches in every corner of the structure. The game won't let me sleep in the bed because it needs to be near a campfire. You can't place a campfire on a wooden floor. The bed has to be under a roof. What the hell? How the hell am I supposed to utilize the bed with this discrepancy? Secondly, why wouldn't the standing torches I have mounted throughout the structure provide warmth, especially since I have one right next to my bed? What I would also like to see is an actual option to build a fireplace in my buildings. But this is a silly and frustrating discrepancy

Not sure how your split level is arranged, but you might be able to use the hoe to raise a section of ground enough to put your fire on, either inside the house or close enough outside so your bed is in range. You used to be able to put a fire on core wood beams but they stopped allowing that. The other option is a stone floor if you have access to iron and the stone cutter.
Usually when I do an elevated split level house it's on top of a rock, sometimes in one of those stone circles, and the fire can go on top of the rock.

if you raise the ground just right you can throw a campfire down they slap a floor in beneath it, then remove the ground with a pickaxe from underneath, it's a little janky but it works if you really want the fire on the wood floor.

You'd either have to use a hoe to raise terrain or a stone cutter for creating stone pillars that would support a campfire or fireplace. Another option that is cooler imo would be using a Surtling flame geyser for easy cooking and permanent warmth.

Besides the information already provided, you can also place a Hanging Brazier on the ceiling once you're far enough in the game to make those. It also counts as a fire for the purpose of sleeping under.

You have to build it on the ground (or stone). You can likely just build it on the ground near the wall where your bed is. Worst case is that you have to use the hoe to raise the ground in that area, but I don't think that should be necessary.
Just make sure you protect it from weather appropriately.

Alternatively, once you're able to get iron, place an iron bar on floor, put a fire on it. Done. Obviously that doesn't help in the early game stuff though. :)

Build a fire place in the house you have on the side of the bed you placed just make sure you put it inside a chimney so the smoke goes up inside to prevent fire from going out put a floor inside the chimney at the top of it

I tried. But it won't let me. It won't let me place a campfire on the wood floor. I thought maybe it was a bug because it was an upstairs floor, but even when I tried laying a campfire on top of a ground level wooden floor as a test that wouldn't work either. Is this possibly a bug that has occured with the new Mistlands update?
