Blocking Skill

Just curious about levelling blocking, its an ongoing subject im sure but im curious as to what players are doing for it? I noticed that Trolls do not help as much as I would have thought nor drauger's really. I parry a lot though im not sure if that helps to gain more. Any how whats your experiences?

I went to the forest spawn spot and locked myself in a fallen tree truck (they cant get behind me) and it went up 2 points pretty quickly with 5 plus enemies pounding away lol

Wiki: Blocking skill increases Block armor by 0.5% for each skill point, reaching 50% at level 100.

Round up a bunch of boars in a cage and stand in the entrance with your shield. Keep up your stamina booster foods.

It's the number of blocks that increase your skill, not the strength of your opponent.

To increase Blocking skills I just find a Burial Chamber and stand there while the 3 skellies just pound away at me. I prefer them because they don't hit then run in a circle.

You could train blocking vs Skeletons inside a burial chamber early on. Put a fire & log seat down for rested bonus too. Same goes for Draugr in Swamps.

Bronze buckler got super nerfed and is no longer the endgame shield. Keep your shield tier up to date and don't use a buckler beyond the swamp. Trolls are especially heavy hitters and only a parry or dodge will work.

Check the wiki for skill XP. XP is per block+parry, but it takes hours to grind even a moderate level with it. Better shields cost less stamina, and parry costs a lot of stamina. The ideal is to get rapidly attacked with a tough shield and weak enemies. Maybe the elder boss(or 5) would be good for shield practice...

Yeah im into the iron stage, well up to the second crypt, and been working on the root armour set. The I usually make the other iron shield but heard the buckler was better so went with that this time. Im closing on lvl 28 in blocking but I know ill need more for Bone mass. I think ill go plant in front of Forest spawner and see how that goes lol

For general purpose, round shield is the best (imo)

Tower shields are good against certain bosses, and in multiplayer where enemies hit harder, and you can afford to have someone take aggro, while another kills

easy and fastest way its making a training pit with a graydwarf nest , dig a big hole under that thing and wait to spawn 3 brutes , then start parrying them a lot because have stagg resist , so dont take much time like others mobs
and yes , parry gives 1.5 more exp than just blocking , and use rested buff for extra exp and stamina regen
but anyway take a lot of time haha

bronze buckler isnt was end game gear before h&H , that could parryed 105 ( when bm shield 135 ) didnt make it and end game item xd

Once you are far enough along, skeleton surprise is a great way to grind it, they mob you, and hit frequently, without hitting so hard as to be too dangerous (careful though, you put your back to a wall they WILL kill you)

You could do something similar at a greydwarf spawner, you get the same experience per hit, you just need things that hit quickly, and lots of them :D

Also, make sure your well rested, you gain more XP when you are
