Finding new stuff on dedicated servers
So, not sure if I got this right: New stuff still shows up in old worlds, you just have to go to an area that you haven't explored, yet. Fine. Now the big question: When you're playing on a dedicated server, and you and your fellow player have explored different areas of the map - do you have to go to an area YOU haven't explored, yet? Or do you have to go to an area NEITHER of you have explored, yet?
I'm currently trying to find birch seeds and acorns, have cut down a number of birches (both in areas I've explored and I hadn't explored) but so far, no birch seeds dropped. How often do they drop?

Seems like a lot of things in Valheim are pure RNG and not tied to the world seed. Delete a world and recreate it with the same settings, you'll get the same land masses and biomes but populated with different points of interest.

The relative drop rate for birch seeds vs. beech seeds appears similar to pine cones vs. fir cones. That's a bit unfortunate, because it means you can't create a self-sustaining birch tree farm (just as you can't for pine trees). Still, one can always clear-cut in the Plains, and birch trees will look pretty at the base.

Aye, I think the tree seeds are really just for decoration and maybe tall building foundations.

Thanks, all! I'll just keep looking. No birch seeds, so far, but I discovered and cleaned out two Draugr villages. *lol* I think I'll restore the smaller one. it's conveniently close to the coastline, so maybe I'll turn it into a harbour village? There's also a swamp nearby, very handy for finding iron to build a stone cutter so I can fortify my harbour village. (And that's why I'll probably never find birch seeds or acorns. I get distracted easily.)

For tree seeds specifically, it appears they are randomly generated as you cut the trees down, not based on whether the area has been explored. I haven't tried for acorns, but Birch seeds have dropped from previously explored areas. The drop rate appears to be lower than for Beech trees, so keep trying. You know you'll need the fine wood anyway.

I've only found one birch seed since yesterday. (Brand new world on a server). Found it knocking down beech trees and accidentally knocked down a birch. Must be a rare find as we've knocked down masses of trees so far.

What you can do is create a new seed send character there to unlock the things you need and fine the things you need should not take long if you know where to look make sure you bring everything you need to build a boat and then go back to your main World enjoy
