Good lord, cruising around the Ashlands looking for Magma Fish? 20 mins now, and I haven't seen one fish. Are the Magma Fish actually in Ashlands? Or is there some other 'secret' to the fishing update, (head shake again)

yes, like any other just have to troll along the shore until you see a few jump. try going in deeper, rather than the border where it force changes all biomes to red

Actually, I joined the Discord, super helpful. It was only on the border of Ashlands/Ocean that I seemed to find any. The farther I went into Ashlands, I didn't see ANY. Went back out to the border of Ashlands/Ocean, got a whole boat full.

yeah i just tried the new version after a long break, and wtf is this.. i mean it sucked before, but now is it there just as frustration or what?

i can barely even move a perch, how does this make any sense.. in what "world" does it make sense that a warrior tires himself out hauling a perch out of a river.. he fights the mighty 1 pound perch for hours, but alas, he runs out of breath from the effort, and must try again later..

Well, the fishing skill plays a part now, but other than that, I don't think they changed the reeling features a lot?

That second paragraph and the final sentence makes me think of real life. It's probably easier to slay (internet) trolls than catch a perch, after all, or at least that's how I think I'd manage.

I thought the patch notes mentioned higher tier fish wouldn't jump anymore. I made a fish farm I found on YouTube and got the majority of the fish that way.

Haven't tried fishing yet since the new update. Not a fan. I'm ok with mundane, but fishing in Valheim takes it to a much different level.

Ya, lol this is ridiculous. Sitting here, looking at 4 Angler fish. One of your 'hot spots' for 11 mins before one even got hooked. Hooked! Not caught. If you line is longer than 2 meters now, good luck catching a lvl 2 or lvl 3 fish. Simply impossible. Before you comment, my stamina is maxed out with Fish n bread, Salad, and Blood Pudding. Way to make something even dumber. *slow hand clap*

The most recent patch put a dent in the number of quality fish on the shore.
That said I gave up on caving and went with the p**is map seed that has tetra 5 min from spawn in, and got a stack of 9 T1 tetra without a pole. After 20+ frost caves, I hit a limit on my patience. The land-fish thing let me bypass the @#$% serpent trophy so cheese works for me given the current state of the passtime.

I now am going to mostly fish meadows if I decide for some reason I want to fish or restock my wraps. With grilled bug meat, wraps are starting to fade from my diet though, even as an around the house food. I put stam food aside for etir food so I can use staves, so 2 health 1 eitr now instead of 1 stam, so the angler isn't interesting to me. I do have a T4 one in my hot tub, though.

Oh I see, if you don't have the new hat, it's pretty much a waste of time. Good thing I converted every type of fish to raw fish, right before this 'improvement' lol This game

Same, my diet is mostly mistland's food now. I like the bread n fish, plus 2 eitr, Seeker Aspic and Stuffed Mushrooms. That with Bonemass, and some Major Healing, a 'wizard' can rock the Mistlands Solo, and not die too many times, hah. Though I'm finding royal jelly is holding me. There should be 1 more way to get that not in the mines, I think.

Anglerfish can be made into new food. Other species will probably follow suit sooner or later. I'd find it odd to have them exist as nothing but trophies in a game with this type of food and cooking system.

Since serpent trophies are the least common item to be used for bait, I'd suggest not processing tuna or coral cod (heavy bait fish) to raw fish just yet.

True! Going to hold on to those types, and not turn them into raw fish.

The fishing mini-game took too many resources and contributed very little to the game, IMO.
