I tried all the YouTube video fixes and honestly, none of them did anything for me. They are all placebo.

The only thing that worked for me was a mod I downloaded to remove fog/mists from Valheim. I originally downloaded this mod because I found the mist in Mistlands to be way over the top and wanted to get rid of it. This mod had a huge side effect of drastically improving my FPS EVERYWHERE in the game.

do you have latest drivers etc?..it seems particle effects (which are hogs anyway) NVidia? and using Geforce Experience App to launch?
and gotta ask ?laptop or other?

What GPU are you using? If it made that big of a difference, part of your silicon is defective The part that is handling Tesselation most likely, but it could also be VRAM)

First Gen RTX2000 series using Micron Memories are ALL on borrowed time, and are having critical failures that first manifest as obnoxiously slow or inconsistent FPS in SOME games.

and totally UNLIKE hunter which only allows you to drop "Set-Pieces" into the world,with NO world editing functionality. Valheim allows you to change the worldbuild, and then pop a Construction of your choosing , in materials design and colour.. into that worldbuild ..

Game is CPU heavy because of all the drawcalls. Even if your CPU doesn't seem like it's working, it's bottlenecking somewhere. I wish I knew, but I'm not a programmer. What I can explain is that modern consumer software that monitors your resources on the PC only show you the total capacity of the CPU, it doesn't segregate any kind of particular hardware.

For example, you may not be bottlenecking on Floating Point, but Integer is completely saturated and slowing everything down, or even something like Network I/O, Memory controller and even Cache, kicking things out of L3 into system memory.

or as i prefer to explain it " a chain is as strong as its Weakest link" then it breaks or in this case slows throughput down.
But since its not a chain it doesnt break it just slows down till we eventually turn everything down to minimum, and then labouriously turn them up one by one to see which causes the most pain. till we work it out from frustration :-) GL @Xanthia_D

my settings. I get 70-80 FPS out in the world and no less than 40 even in very complex builds. I have FPS capped at 80 because my monitor is only 75HZ.

Unlike theHunter, Valheim is early access - things still left to improve or optimize.

If you are using DX11, consider switching to Vulcan (or the other way around). My system seems to perform a little better with the Vulcan API.

Also, lots of good guides on youtube on how to improve your frame rate in Valheim. I cap my mobile 3060 at 60 and I rarely drop below 50 no matter where in my primary base I am.

If you invest time to understand how to tweak your 3D settings per application, you might get rewarded to your heart's content. :-)
