There are mods, if you can use them, to get around that restriction.

It‘s a restriction in the game, you can‘t portal some materials (metals, ores, dragon eggs), you‘re supposed to transport it via sailing.

Its one of those annoying things most people just find ways to get around by using alternate servers.

I see why they did it, but the fact you can only carry a small amount of ore, even with the strength belt, and carts are useless, makes it a really annoying thing to do, thus why honestly I tend to exploit it a lot as well if its just in a ridiculous place, like mining silver for instance, no way I'm taking a couple of stacks at a time down, or somehow getting a cart to crash its way down the mountain.

That said I don't really want them to remove the restriction, I just want better ways of carrying ore about, like a donkey or something you can train to carry it more normally. Longboats are great and all for moving large amounts of ore from base to base, but even iron and black iron (and I imagine the newer materials) are a more a chore than they should be because of how much they weigh, and how bad carts work in that environment.
